How is it the biggest cultural phenomenon ever?
Not with Ron Howard at the helm.
I sense a bit of hyperbole, but there’s no way I’m missing this. Ron Howard is inconsistant to say the least, but can pull a winner out at times (Frost/Nixon). Here, he has a strong narrative to work with and active Stephen King involvement. Plus King’s television stuff are among his best adaptations.
@Bon Jovi. What else has been represented in that many mediums? I may be wrong, but I dont know if there is anything else that has been in that many different forms of entertainment.
@House. I’m not very excited about Howard either. But hopefully they have too much respect for the series to ruin it.
It’s not his respect I’m worried about, it’s his balls.
Roland’s bird tearing Cort’s face apart. The Boy being left behind for the Slow Mutants. Not in a Ron Howard film.
He has forgotten the face of his father.
You’ve got a great point there. Those sorts of things were such a huge aspect of it all that I didn’t even think about it. Now Im kinda worried about how they’ll deal with Suzie mating with the speaking ring demon in Wastelands(knowing how big a role that plays in the later books). Up until now I’ve mostly worried about how they’ll visualize certain things, like Walter showing Roland the universe at the end of The Gunslinger, that one scene was what made me continue on with the rest of the series and Im afraid they wont pull it off.
I am terrified for King and this possible fuck-up…though he never really cares how his stories are filmed.
However, this could be what Ron Howard needs right now. I hope its good
You may allready be aware of this but from the press release it would appear that the order will go…
The Gunslinger – 1st movie in trilogy
Drawing of the Three – 1st season of TV series
Wastelands – 2nd movie
Wizard and Glass (plus comics?) – 2nd season
Wolves of the Calla – final movie
Song for Susannah and The Dark Tower – multiple seasons
at least thats the way it sounded. I personally think this structure could really work.
Alex Bowlin
It’s official: The Dark Tower series will be a trilogy and a TV series. Any fans here? With seven book, an ongoing series of graphic novels, movies, and a TV show, this is maybe the biggest cultural phenomenon ever. What do you guys think? Are you as excited as I am?
