Since most of the movies submitted have virtually no chance of moving up very far due to no one having seen them, I’m going to ignore those as well as the ones I submitted in hope of a list that is, at least, more interesting than Mubi’s or TSPDT"s top fifty. This hope may be in vain, but still…
(Not that I have anything against Vertigo or Taxi Driver particularly or most of the rest of the current favorites, but, c’mon, they aren’t so exceptional as to eclipse every other movie out there.)

Welcome to the next round of The MUBI Forum User’s Top 20 List, curated by DiB.
Below is the full longform list of all submitted titles adjusted along a point spread for duplicate submissions. Titles at the top were submitted more often and earlier, titles at the bottom less often and later. The top 20 is highlighted; the bottom movie is italicized to emphasize its chance of being dropped off the list. Over time the italicized movies will represent “endangered” titles that are close to being removed from the list entirely. All titles are followed by numbers delineating the amount of points they have received.
Due to the amount of submissions I’ve received, I have decided to try something new for this group. There will be the top 20, and then there will be an additional 21st movie based on how the game is going. I will not tell you how the 21st one will be calculated until the end of the game.

Voting will consist of the following format:
Movie A +2
Movie B -1
Movie C -1
You may not combine B and C and vote -2 for one movie. You may not split Movie A into two and vote +1 for two movies. You can choose to log less votes if you really want to. The idea is to get a greater bulk downward but be point neutral; to privilege movies you want to vote up instead of movies you have a personal vendetta against; and to allow fine adjusting in certain areas were voting +2 for one movie and -1 for another will allow them to switch sides.
Historically this game has resulted in many people trying out and adopting various strategies. These strategies may be discussed during the rounds in this thread and as far as I am concerned there is no such thing as cheating unless you break the vote format (which I’ll just ignore your votes then) or try to vote twice in one round. If people “gang up” on your movie, that is part of the game. I would like to point out at this time that oftentimes people feel like they are getting personally attacked in a game. This has never been the case in all the other three times I have run it: the movie is being what is attacked, not you.
WEEK ONE VOTING BEGINS NOW
Each week new more aggressive rules will be adopted to make the game progressively faster. This week is slow. No movies will be dropped off the list unless voted to zero points or below by participants. This week is to get used to the voting structure and observe how it affects the longform list itself.
Day One begins now and ends 24 hours from now. I am lazy and don’t know what that means in terms of timezones but this is the time I come home from work five days of the week, so my presence at 24 hour intervals will be generally consistent with announced exceptions. Again, you may only vote once per 24 hour period and all subsequent votes will be ignored, but I will announce new rounds at every interval so it’ll be pretty easy to tell when it is time to vote again.
