These are the films I want to save; who will help out?

Medium Cool
Brand upon the Brain!
Woman in the Dunes
Raise the Red Lantern
The Conformist
M
The Red Balloon
Wild Strawberries
Apocalypse Now
-The White Ribbon-
-A Snake of June-
Peeping Tom
-The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari-

And Apocalypse Now and Aguirre, the Wrath of God are fighting to see which gets voted off first. Peeping Tom received a reprise of at least one day after being down to 3, and Raise the Red Lantern is down to 8 after being up to 15, I guess haters gotta hate :)

i’m more interested in saving a 40s film. i’m wondering if i shouldn’t jump behind lubitsch since sturges is going nowhere :(

i vote it up, someone else votes it down, i vote it up, someone else etc etc

no way i would try to save that many films uli. that’s very ambitious. good luck tho

Medium Cool is still pretty high isn’t it? I won’t try to save that one until the list gets much smaller. I don’t remember where woman in the dunes is. I’d like to see that one hang out for a little longer although I prefer the face of another.

Ruby, for what it’s worth, I love Sturges but I haven’t seen Lady Eve yet :( I do support the Sturges and Welles favoritism though, especially since Citizen Kane is out of the game and Chimes is into play.

I would like to see a forties film move higher, but comedies are hard to gain support for as they are easier for people to dislike than dramas since the “if I didn’t laugh its no good” concept tends to dominate the way people think about them. That said, I’m not as interested in having a bunch of my personal favorites make the top twenty as there are too many people involved for me to either wish to try do that or for it to be a very interesting endeavor anyway. My only interest is in having the list be unique to the game which is why I have only voted against movies that show up in the top fifty on the TSPDT or Mubi lists already. Any movie not on those lists is fine with me as long as there is enough support for it otherwise.

Yeah, I’m up for saving the charming and elegant lady Eve. I think she’s one of only two or three of my original twenty left.

Arigato, Nathan M, you’ve driven the bus from the edge leaving me to choose between two movies on the brink I’ve been sporadically voting up. I’ve had to abandon my earings and save

A Moment of Innocence +2

16 films from my top 20 are still on the list :D The only films from my top 20 that have been killed are The Double Life of Véronique, The New World, Persona and Spirited Away (all four of which are dearly missed).

^ I’ve given all those films Cecil listed above 5 stars but Spirited Away (other Miyazakis hold that position, hehe) and this is one of the reasons I wasn’t able to create a personal top 20 :( Yet, hahahaha.

Can’t believe Seven Samurai is being voted down. May Kanbê Shimada find you.

Mr. Kaizer

Statistics time:
14 left out of 20.
6 films have been killed by evil philistines. :(

I think I watched 25 films from the primal list since the game started.
Best: “Shit Year” by Cam Archer, but it’s long gone.
(Who had this on his/her top 20? I want to follow you.)
