As to the game part of it, I’m not particularly concerned about which films get knocked off before which others as it certainly won’t be a completely clean process where films fall off in any sort of easy to justify order. It’s going to take some time to get rid of all the movies people aren’t going to support, and I’m more interested in those that they are interested in defending, especially the ones lower in votes, to see what creeps up the list as favorites. Every good game needs some sort of strategy, so I just chose an different tactic to suit my own interests.
+2 Three Godless Years
-1 Apocalypse Now
-1 Blade Runner
Viva la Philippines
@adrianmendizabal: I’d recommend to edit your post since it’s no longer allowed to post rapidshare links on the forum.
Can’t you guys who have signed up to vote up Three Godless Years choose your two least favourites from the list to vote down rather than artificially lowering the scores of a couple a day based on someone else’s choices? You do have your own tastes and opinions don’t you? Nothing against you voting up 3GY if it is your favourite.
+2 Once Upon a Time in America
-1 Certified Copy
-1 Toy Story
I have to honestly admit that if this game results in movies getting wider distribution, even temporarily and to the select audience of those who are playing this game, I will be absolutely thrilled.
Edit: I also think that the Filipino voters who are taking this seriously enough to rally around such a cause should at least give us the respect of taking it seriously enough to not rally around demoting the same movies, as I share the other users’ concerns about that. I do not honestly believe that you all have the same opinions on movies in this way.
Also, I have been informed by my Filipino friend Sonny up in Dubai that he knows the film I speak of and he’s looking for a way that I may see it. So that’s neat.

Jirin, and even Satan himself wept at your statement ;-}
Man, so many votes to bring 8 1/2 and Mirror down, why aren’t there any voters to bring Sansho and Rules of the Game down? :P So much hatred for abstract films? ;) (just joking)
….and damn, too much Leone in the top 50!!!
Westley, what did you not like about Brighter Summer Day?
+2 The Exorcist
-1 Triumph of the Will

^ Brad, I’ll agree…the Exorcist needs some saving as well as Deep Red!
(but down with Happy Gilmore, hahaha)
I didn’t like that it has 25 votes. Yes, I am voting against films I have never seen. This game is about politics as much as anything else. I am going to promote movies that I have seen that I like, and if I have to vote down movies I haven’t seen in order to give the movies I have seen a better chance then I will. Yes, in a perfect world I would be able to see every single movie before I vote against it. But I simply don’t have the time to see every movie that is on this list.
(I’m not trying to be confrontational. This is just the way I think is best to play the game.)
hear hear
“But I simply don’t have the time to see every movie that is on this list.”
That doesn’t make sense though since Brighter Summer Day is available with English subtitles (!), it’s not like Three Godless Years which has practically…none available…
Of course, I’m not judging anyone but it would make more sense to vote films which you have seen and try and track down films like Brighter Summer Day and watch them unless you don’t watch films on your pc!
>>Brad, I’ll agree<<
Did I read that right???
^ There’s major quality in a film like The Exorcist as opposed to…United 93 ;)
Uli Cain, Cinefidel¹³
Granted again, there are films I have not seen, just as many have not seen many films, and I’m not serious about this at all, none of us should be serious about it, it’s a fun little exercise that proves that quality is Not the true measure of a film, but weight of opinion is.
