You don’t need to know anything about classical composers, you just need to know that Kieslowski worked closely with the composer Zbigniew Preisner on all of his last films. The scores were composed for the films.
Zbigniew Preisner’s main inspiration was arguably the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, but one could also single out Anton Bruckner, Niccolò Paganini and Karol Lipinski.
@ House, the thing is I’m working with my composer to try to channel a few similar elements from Three Colors: Blue and I’m not very music literate and am trying to find some roots to show him. They carry the same weight I’m looking for coming from my lead character who is a composer, but thanks sir! :)
@Apursanar, awesome thanks sir!
anymore suggestions from people would be awesome, thanks!
Preisner is great, glad someone is interested in him.
Preisner is one of my favorites. Starting from Europa Europa, the first score of his I heard, on up.
Preisner is super incredible. Either him or Phillip Glass are my favorite film composers.
I discovered Preisner pretty young as my love for film music grew when I saw The Secret Garden. I do love his music.
For me personally there’s a bit of Mahler influence in Blue, there’s another name for you.
JP. Schmidt
For those of you schooled in knowing classical music composers …
Would you be able to point me to some composers whose work may have (or if you know for a fact did) influence the score to Three Colors: Blue?
I’m not the musical literate (not as much as I’d like) and am looking to kind of analyze that score.
Thank you!
