Okay, I have to call out Pitch Perfect.
I’m pretty sure the bad editing is a result of bad direction/coverage. You have these stand-out shots that were obviously intended, really pop, and what ties them together in almost every scene I’ve viewed are just terrible shots, every time. It’s like the director or the editor, whichever one, wanted some Big Moment every coupla shots or so and the rest was merely filler for continuity — we’re talking people turned away from the camera, unbalanced compositions, a camera practically rushing to find the next thing to look at, unsynced dialog(/singing), and incomplete/messy continuity especially with reaction shots for some reason.
With these musical movies you sort of expect ‘unnecessary’ cuts to be put in to match a rhythm or beat or something or add a bit of a jump or pop, but I’m not sure these cuts served that purpose either.
Just awful stuff.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon comes to mind. No coherency, consistency, or cohesion in its shots. Just utterly mindless.
