The hitchhiking girl, I thought, presented a good look into the character of Moss — as well as making his end more tragic, because of the disconnect between the truth and the perceptions of Bell, Moss’s wife, and so on — that ended up not making it into the film. I really can’t remember what else got cut that I initially thought should have been in, though.

Interesting. I didn’t find any subtlety in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN at all. Not even a little bit. None. Zip zero zilch.

Blood is better, for many reasons, the best of which was Daniel Day’s stunning performance.
there will be blood.
super old topic. but i always enjoy expressing that i love both these films to death. but there will be blood is ungodly good.

No Country for Old Men. The final act of There Will be Blood is a self-indulgent diatribe by the director and screenwriter. The performance by Lewis is a self-indulgent doppelganger of his character in Gangs of New York. There is nothing subtle about There Will be Blood.
