Anyone like Frank Tashlin? Was he the first animator turned director with a cartoon sensibility? It seems his main innovation was applying the logic of Looney Tunes cartoons to live action films. For that alone, he deserves respect.

I love Frank Tashlin. I just reread that Bogdanovich book and he is one of the best interviews in it.
He made some of the best Jerry Lewis material.

Tashlin is one of my favorites. The Girl Can’t Help It and Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? are great. The Disorderly Orderly and Cinderfella are very good. Even the some of the essentially formulaic stuff like Son of Paleface and The Glass Bottom Boat Tashlin managed to make lively and entertaining.
