Tim and Eric: Great Show, Awesome Job!

Does anyone besides me think this is the most genius show ever? I just want to see if anyone here knows it.

If you do tell me if you know it and if you like it.

I have little experience with the show, but Eric Wareheim seems to me to be a quite talented music video director.

i think its hilarious most of the time. there’s a few segments i don’t love, but generally i think it’s great. and i second Bruce, Eric’s music video direction is hilarious. Whatever that video in the department store is, genius.

Greatest. Show. Ever. I was actually just watching it before posting on this thread… what are the odds?

I’ve seen two episodes. One I thought was silly obnoxious trash, the other had me in stitches multiple times. Maybe I just have to be in a certain mood.

Anyway, my favorite part of the ‘good’ episode was Ray Wise’s instructional workplace hug video.

it’s an oddball show mixing media nicely but I’ll admit the big laughs are seldom…I will go with likeminded production mates Xavier or wonder showzen any day

The thing I don’t get about Tim and Eric is that nothing they ever do is really that funny, but, for some reason, I can’t help but crack up the whole time they’re on TV.

Yes, it is genius. You can tell because people who don’t like it (or dare I say, get it) get really pissed off and hostile about it. “Big laughs” vary on what your tastes are, but yes sometimes they do mood pieces which are more fascinating than funny. But I think comedy that goes out of its way to be unfunny and even disturbing is refreshing and more artistic than your emmy award-winning mediocrities. Though Tairy Green’s inspired sky dancing should make any red-blooded Scandavian American bust a gut.

Check out Chris Morris and Armando Ianucci. They’re comic masterminds from the UK.

I fink a sense of homoerotic tension and grotesqeness prevade the odd timed akward humor. This makes for a disgusting watch but I find a certian brilliance in it anyway. I have seen Tom goes to the mayor more but I think t/e is better.

For your consideration, a possible influence:

THE STATE normally played their comedy relatively straight to this sketch, with at least a recognizable structure of set-up and punchline, but this little gem always stood out to me as an entirely new direction in awkwardness that TIM AND ERIC has apparently mastered to an extreme degree.

It is very hit-and-miss, but when it works it is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. The episode from season 5, “Lucky”, is a particular example of their sudden bursts of absolute genius. Unfortunately I don’t hardly watch tv at all, but this is definitely one of my favorite shows. I love the way they just smile at the camera with their little mouths and make awkward noises.

You eat the ants because they have protein

I’ve got chubs for you

*You eat the ants because it’s made out of protein!

I also love “I love to eat bad foods for me.”

Let’s just post our favorite Tim and Eric quotes.

I have never seen an episode of this show. I only saw one clip that I can no longer find.

A random dude was shining a flashlight into a kids bedroom wall at night: ‘I just want to teach your kid science. the universe. SO LET ME!!’

It was the funniest thing I’d ever seen.

(I’d forgotten about Wonder Showzen. The ‘bootlegs vs. the normals’ episode is transcendent genius.)

“An all new feature film from the twisted minds of cult comedy heroes Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim (“Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job”)! Tim and Eric are given a billion dollars to make a movie, but squander every dime… and the sinister Schlaaang corporation is pissed. Their lives at stake, the guys skip town in search of a way to pay the money back. When they happen upon a chance to rehabilitate a bankrupt mall full of vagrants, bizarre stores and a man-eating wolf that stalks the food court, they see dollar signs—a billion of them. Featuring cameos from Awesome Show regulars and some of the biggest names in comedy today!”

Oh God.

Just imagining THAT on the big screen…

I cannot wait to hear what the critics say.

It’s such a shame that it’s probably not going to be out in any cinemas in Ireland and I’m probably not going to be downloading it off of iTunes either, but when this film comes out on DVD, I’M FUCKIN’ BUYIN’ IT ON DAY ONE!

Biggest letdown I hope to experience this year.

I don’t know. I thought it was really funny. I hadn’t read anything about this before I watched it and had no idea what to expect. It was very surprised by how funny it was.

I’ve got a ticket to go see it on the 13th and Tim and Eric will be there to do a Q&A afterwards. I do expect to be kind of disappointed though… we’ll see!
