The Godfather
Cabaret (is there a creepier scene than the Tomorrow Belongs to Me number? At least creepiest in a MUSICAL)
The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
Aguirre, the Wrath of God
Asylum (Peter Cushing, Amicus anthology)
Boxcar Bertha
Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex* (*But Were Afraid to Ask)
Child’s Play (Lumet)
Un flic (I love this Melville film despite the miniature helicopter/moving train heist)
Fat City (it has to be one of the very best acted films ever made)

I have to throw in The Posiedon Adventure. I saw it years later and have seen it many time since.

Tout va Bien & Letter to Jane were released this year as well, but I didn’t really like Tout va Bien and I with Letter to Jane, I question Godard’s motives on a lot of levels.

So I pulled some truly iconic films from my birth year. I can’t vouch for their artistic merit but they still resonate today.

Cooley High
Dolemite
Death Race 2000
Trilogy of Terror
Rocky Horror Picture show
Dog Day Afternoon
One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Three days of the Condor
Return of the Pink Panther

For the tenth I chose 3. Because people will still seek out the above 9 movies with little prompting. But these 3 I think are just as iconic, maybe just not as appreciated?

Adventures of Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother / Rikki-Tikki-Tavi / The Apple Dumpling Gang
