I’m sure someone will get mad at you for starting this thread and rave about the futility of it all, but before they do…
1. Arrested Development (A new fav of mine)
2. Curb Your Enthusiasm
3. Flight Of The Conchords
4. Seinfeld
5. Southpark
6. Lost (Notice it’s one of only three dramas on the list)
7. 30 Rock
8. Wonderfalls (Kudos to those who know what I’m talking about)
9. Firefly
10. Grey’s Anatomy!!!!!!!!!!!
I was lying about one of those. Guess which one.
Grey’s i hope…..
Sure people get mad, but I use these posts to discover shows and movies that I may have overlooked. So if someone has a problem with the thread, then f off and don’t respond….
Don’t worry, I’m not one of those people! I never understood the obsession with trying to keep the forum perfect.
Yep, Grey’s.
The Wire
Arrested Development
Twin Peaks
Community
Seinfeld
Futurama
Mad Men
Californication
Avatar: The Last Airbender (that’s right!)
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (if that counts.)
that’s about it…
The Wire is the best drama of all time. Arrested Development is the best comedy. Twin Peaks is the best mystery. Futurama the best animated series. Hands down, anyone that disagrees with me is a commie spy.
I don’t really watch much tv though. It’s too….exhausting.
The Office
Lost
South Park
Nobody else is worthy.
I can’t believe no one has mentioned House. I mean, come on!
Robley, hmmm… well, I was crapping (Oops, I meant scraping) the bottom of the barrel to come up with ten, so…
Glemaud, Community? Really?
Guess I’m a commie. I could never get into The Wire either.
HOUSE?
Errg.
There’s almost no room for anything but entertainment on TV, so anything that’s supposed to be serious I usually don’t like because it’s fake, manipulating serious. Comedies for me!
1. Cracker: Exciting psychological drama starring Robbie Coltrane
2. The Muppet Show: Kids show clever for adults
3. Threes Company: able cast, wonderful double entendre
4. Ernie Kovacs Show: Groundbreaking 50s tv, check it out on youtube
5. Dobie Gillis: Great show about teens still relevant today
6. NYPD Blue: tough television but the growth of Det. Andy Sipowicz was worth it
7. The Singing Detective: nuff said
8. Twlight Zone: Rod Serling was a genius tho the episodes were hit and miss
9. Gumby: Art Clokey created a whole world with a lump of clay
10 (tie). The Charlie Rose Show and Tom Synder : intellegent talk shows, the shows you hope your favorites go on.
Fandorin: I like the older episodes myself. :(
“There’s almost no room for anything but entertainment on TV, so anything that’s supposed to be serious I usually don’t like because it’s fake, manipulating serious. Comedies for me!”
Basically every serious movie you watch is “fake and manipulative”, too.
I see your point though. But calling House entirely serious is not really fair, it is very funny, too.
So here is my list: (though I mostly don’t really care for TV):
1. (nothing will ever come close) Fawlty Towers!!!
2. House
3.South Park
4. 24 (I know, I know)
5. Mad Men
6. Lost
7. Jeeves and Wooster
8. The Simpsons
If you don’t like one or more of these shows, too bad. :P
1. The Office (American)
2. Seinfeld
3. Arrested Development
4. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations
5. Fawlty Towers
6. ‘Allo ‘Allo!
7. Blackadder
8. Family Guy
9. M*A*S*H
10. Scrubs
I wasn’t trying to pinpoint House exactly, I’ve enjoyed what I’ve seen. But that’s my point. Even the best drama on TV (Lost, in my opinion) doesn’t compare to a film by Bergman. However, Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm do, because they make me laugh. Hard.
Comedies and dramas are apples and oranges:
Dramas:
1) Lost
2) Buffy the Vampire Slayer
3) The West Wing
4) The Sopranos
5) Star Trek
Comedy:
1) Seinfeld
2) All in the Family
3) South Park
4) Monty Python’s Flying Circus
5) Black Adder
6) Cheers
7) Taxi
8) 30 Rock
9) The Muppet Show
10) Three’s Company
One day away EJ.
God, I know. Just try not to get me too excited. I’ve been managing to keep myself together today.
