All of ’em. Greatly interested in his post-Psycho work, esp. Torn Curtain & Topaz.
Interesting how many people put Rope in their top 5.. I would agree.. but many Hitchcock disciples would strongly disagree. IIRC Hitchcock himself called Rope a failure, he said he wasn’t satisfied with what he was trying to accomplish.. regardless I absolutely love it.. and agree that North by Northwest is madly overrated.

the 39 steps
1.) Vertigo
2.) Rebecca
3.) Strangers on a Train
4.) Notorious
5.) Rear Window
I never understood the praise heaped on Rear Window. I don’t dislike the film, but it doesn’t rivet me to the screen the way Psycho does. It doesn’t scare me the way that scene in Frenzy does (the one where the camera backs down the stairs and into the noisy street). I don’t see the gorgeous look of Vertigo or Rebecca in it. And personally I’m not really a Grace Kelly fan. Same goes for North by Northwest. Compared to other Hitchcock films, it just seems a little silly.
Anyways, top 5? Man that’s tough. But right now I would say…1) Vertigo
2) Psycho
3) Rebecca
4) Notorious
5) Shadow of a Doubt
Most of that list is ranked randomly except for Vertigo, which will probably always be my favorite :)
