1. Inglourious Basterds
2. The Hurt Locker
3. Bright Star
4. Drag Me Too Hell
5. Moon
6. In the Loop
7. (500) Days of Summer
8. Coraline
9. Capitalism: A Love Story
10. The Informant!

District 9, Up, Adventureland, and Sin Nombre are good, but some people are extremely over rating them. Public Enemies, The Soloist, Funny People, and The Brothers Bloom were the films that most disappointed me this year. They weren’t bad, and they had good parts in them, but they were not good as a whole. I loved Inglourious Basterds. Even though it has some flaws, I think it’s QT’s 2nd best film to date. I also liked Sate of Play, Star Trek, The Hangover, I Love You Man, and Zombieland.

Predicted top 10 of 2009
1. A Serious Man
2. Up In the Air
3. Where The Wild Things Are
4. Invicitus
5. Inglourious Basterds
6. Nine
7. The Hurt Locker
8. Bright Star
9. Fantastic Mr. Fox
10. An Education

I’m not sure if Tree of Life is coming out this year, but if it is, that is the film I am most anticipating. Anti-Christ, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Avatar are the two films I am most curious about.

I’m not sure if it counts (was released in Japan in 2008, US & Australia in 2009) but if so, what about Ponyo on a cliff by the sea?

Favorite Movie from 2009: You, the Living *A mind-blowing film. Easily my favorite from the decade/millennium.

Other Favorites (so far):
Marketa Lazarova **A repertory film but this is really hard to find.
Away We Go
Che, Part One: The Argentine
Inglorious Basterds
The Girlfriend Experience
I’m Gonna Explode
Summer Hours
The Baader-Meinhoff Complex

Most Disappointing: Antichrist ***A movie that’s definitely worth thinking about twice but, in the end, it’s wretched and tasteless.

this is weird, some films around here are 2007 and 2008 productions, why do some of you people count them as 2009 just because the U.S. of A. is delaying to release them????

anyways, from what i’ve seen thus far (and they’re not many),these are my picks….

1. City of life and Death/The White Ribbon (same rating)
2. In the Loop

Drew.

I’ve only seen ten films from 2009, and I rank them…..

1. Tetro
2. (500) Days of Summer
3. Moon
4. Inglourious Basterds
5. Up
6. Whatever Works
7. Funny People
8. The Hangover
9. Adventureland
10. I Love You Man

Some of those are really close, like 2 and 3 or 4 and 5, however Tetro is definitely my favorite film of 2009. However as you can see I have not seen much.

ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE

Do you like all of those films, Drew? Or is I Love You Man terrible?

Law

No non-American films? ):

Drew.

Here are really crude rankings (crude because they will be inaccurate if I start thinking about it more):

5 Stars:
-Tetro

4.5 Stars:
-(500) Days of Summer
-Moon

4 Stars:
-Inglourious Basterds
-Up

3.5 Stars:
-Whatever Works
-Funny People

3 Stars:
-The Hangover

2 Stars:
-Adventureland

1.5 Stars:
-I Love You Man

Law, I am not able to see non-American films due to the fact that they only play far away and I don’t have a license

ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE

Drew—hm…I’d give UP a 4.5, but that’s the only one of those films I saw this year…
