Cool story, bro.
well, it’s better than another list, right?

I couldn’t help myself.
one of my favorite marvel characters. i hope he’s in the Thor movie!
Portabello or shiitake?
it’s shrooms:
e.g. me and some friends watched Tron on shrooms.
These kind of mushrooms-

I only like watching movies at the beginning of my trip, when I have the giggles. But as the trip really begins to kick in, my senses get stronger and everything becomes more significant, and I have to go do something fun. Otherwise I’ll become overly introspective and hyper critical of myself, tearing myself apart because of something embarrassing I did that blew my chances with a girl I liked in the 5th grade or something weird like that.
Next time skip the boomers and eat some acid. That’ll make anything not boring.
One pill makes you larger and one pill makes you small.
No way. TRON is like the pyramids. Even with all our technology, if we tried to recreate it as well today, we could not pull it off.
Every frame, a piece of art.
Except all that boring shit that takes place outside the computer game….
Okay, maybe 3D can make this as good as the original. Trailer rules. Music sounds much better in movie theater surround sound.
I can’t speak to the original “Tron” but the new one looks like it would be a ton of fun on shrooms. The sound design and visuals look amazing. Even if it’s a crappy movie, I’m sure it will be a visual treat. You should take some and then catch it in the IMAX 3D when it comes out, I bet you’ll have a much better experience
Roger- yeah, I think all of us (there were about 8 of us) really wanted to leave the room and do something interesting, but we were sucked in and creeped out by the shrooms. for me, there usually seems to be a short period between coming up and really getting high that i get sort of paralyzed. plus, we were all minors at the time, and 8 kids running around in the middle of the night high out of our minds might not have worked out
Hi,
I’m not sure that there are that many films out there that you can actually “enjoy” on shrooms or anything else for that matter … other than music … which would be mostly because a lot of “tripping” in general works best when it’s fun and there is a sadistic rip in too many film makers that have a tendency to make all of these experiences come off in some sort of negative light so a judgement can be made about the improperness of it all … like it is against the … whatever.
So, to be sure, you’re never gonna see Don Juan on film in your life or mine, specially when the material is fabulously inventive and a far out mix of vision and inventiveness could really make those stories come alive … and in the end, you can close with one of Don Juan’s lines … Carlos asks if he needed the drugs and Don Juan says … of course not you silly, but you come in here with so many ideas we have to find a way to shut you up so you can learn … (paraphrased).
The Double Life of Veronique is very “druggy” for me, probably because the synchronicity in it is amazing and so beautifully realized with music. The City of Lost Children and Delicatessen, both are fun films that to me come off druggy. For crying out loud, Peter Greenaway is super druggy without any drugs … check out The Pillow Book, or Prospero’s Books … and it is really difficult to deal with the craziness at times, but it is beautiful to watch and appreciate, and Pillow Book is insane … like your alter-ego mind is going along the whole film on the edge … and it is so close to our own minds … you talk to someone and you are thinking/seeing something else … things that in general are really difficult to figure out and discuss … even as a reviewer.
And of course, most reviewers would rather trash these weird things, than … try to figure out something inventive to say about it. Another director that fits this bill these days is Gaspar Noe. I would love to add Terry Gilliam to the list, but I think that he’s stuck in a timewarp … and losing a grip on his vision … it was much clearer in the days that he had “less” to work with … now he has more … I’m thinking that it is not as good as it was once before.
In general, the “drug” thing in film is bad and worse … and perhaps one of the most vilified, wasted and killed film maker out there would probably be Jodorowski … his El Topo still is … off the scale, and of course, his other film was apparently so bizarre that Ringo is preventing it from being released till the end of his time? Called “The White Mountain”
Back to TRON, anyone else think it’s the best looking movie ever? So good looking that it still manages to distract you from a terrible, terrible script. The plot might be real dumb, but I think it’s one of the greatest visual achievements ever.
“Otherwise I’ll become overly introspective and hyper critical of myself, tearing myself apart because of something embarrassing I did that blew my chances with a girl I liked in the 5th grade or something weird like that.”
I do that anyway
I watched tenacious d and the pick of destiny high awhile ago. the sasquatch scene made me really happy.
When I was in high school I watched the Devil’s Advocate on 4 hits of acid and it scared the living f**k out of me…I hid in a closet for the rest of the night. It sucked.
Got some friends who dropped cid and the went to see “Dark Knight” and I thought WTF! Isn’t it dark enough for you already?
I have a habit when coming down from cid, just before that “can you please make this stop now?” phase, of watching horror movies. Don’t know why but I love watching them.
But my belief is organic or chemical it’s best out doors & they’re not for movies

me and some friends watched Tron on mushrooms once, thinking it would be “trippy”. Instead it was just really boring.
