Two Dead Magpies was truly a magnificent member of this site. Hopefully she’ll come back and keep rewarding us with her amazing knowledge.
i miss her!
She was the only one I could talk to about Juraj Jakubisko
Is Two Dead Magpies a she? I was never certain…
She introduced me to Dusan Hanák )O: but she has erasen her whole profile now
I sure miss the lovely pictures on her profile, her unique witticisms, and those lovely little black hearts! Sad…
I never got to discuss the films of Ning Ying with her…
She was always one of my favorite people here.
She was so friendly and passionate.
She was like a second mother to me :(
i don’t exactly know what magpies eat, but here is some souvlaki. for the winged woman in space..
We had sex once in an office behind the forums data base. I can’t tell you the tricks she learned from all those Easter European and Baltic goose-down beds. I like her scat writing, that weird stream of conscious rat-a-tat-tat which revealed her artistic noggin breaking past grammar and conjunction, almost through language into the concise “heart” of things (black heart perhaps). I wouldn’t want to argue with her in close quarters, where I couldn’t run like hell. Some odd fierce doyen who never suffered fools well, but was witty, funny, schmart, knowledgeable, swoon-like in her praise, seen a zillion films from countries I don’t think have existed since the Moldavian Magnate Wars, hissy when angry, and filled us all with something like a fuse to ignite our own ascetic possibilities. The way she knocked those words around made my eyes sparkle or close tightly, depending. A dark grace seemed to hover around her site, not black, merely somber tones and textures—wine colored, with great shocks of electrical guitar chords piercing then fading. I saw her dancing once with Marina Tsvetaeva in a club on the Dalmatian coast, but I knew I shouldn’t ever mention it to anyone. Christ were they happy.
u conjure her better than anyone brother. no surprise there ♥♥
Awesome description, Brother Deacon. That´s how I like to remember her.
(:
You’re all a bunch of idiots. She’s not dead- she prefers existence without you.
Outstanding Brotherdeacon. :)
Well she’s dead to us. I mean of course I never even knew her real name, its just too bad cause the roster of reliable users whose opinions I trust is running thin.
I haven’t been on the forums for long times in a long while, but during those 2-5 minutes I spent lurking through her profile, she came across as someone with a fucking fantastic taste in films and I followed her. Always a great reassurance with that kind of knowledge floating the forum and a mighty miss when they pull the plugs on profiles.
Where was she from? O:
yorkshire uk. i remember how upset she was once when someone thought she was american. lol

aww that’s wonderful! ^
nice work everyone. much better than the santino thread
i can’t come here anymore. too emotional
Endlessly knowledgeable and deeply charismatic. This is an awful loss. I hadn’t realized she had cancelled her account.
I will speak in the present, not past tense, because no matter whether she has an acount here or not, she is still a vibrant presence on Mubi. I hope she is at least aware of her own impact on this site. Whether she returns or not is strictly her own decision, and I respect it either way.
I think the thing I most appreciate with magpies is her enthusiasm for discovery. She loves to share a book or film she has found with others. One of my first wall posts from her, when coming on the site, was a nice take on Guerin (a filmmaker we had in common) and films from Spain and Portugal. She has endless curiosity for things which is infectiouis. I was fortunate enough to have her share some of her own love of books with me, finding some similar interests in writers who should be better known.
Wherever she is, I know she will be spreading that same joy, passion, brilliance, and wit that she displayed here. She is a great resource for knowledge in under-appreciated books and films. All the best and thanks for your recommendations.
I remember her enthusiasm at the beginning of the WC and how much I was looking forward to learning from her and enjoying her unique turn of phrase and mysterious observations – mysterious because mostly I didn’t understand what she was talking about, I like that. It makes me feel in the presence of greatness;)
a tribute to magpies, the last song she posted on the music clips thread♥

Mubi is so whack now. At least the great films are still around.. (not so much on the forum lately) but all my Two Dead Magpie posts and messages gone ):
