Reposting from the “Overrated Films” thread:
The problem with these undying overrated/underrated threads is that they necessarily invoke not so much opinions about films, but opinions of others opinions about films, or, rather, what one perceives to be the opinion of others about films, thus one is always shooting at moving targets, and the discussion goes nowhere, and they generally become mere sounding boards for the airing of grievances.
Chris Petit’s Radio On. Wonderful British road movie that has been tragically overlooked for years. It’s been released on DVD by the BFI now so it needs to rack up some more fans!
Jeepers Creepers 2 is very well made horror flick, it got too negative reception.
and this years Green Zone and Brooklyn’s Finest, both were received lukewarm by stuck up hard nosed critics due to being “cliched”.
they are also impeccably crafted with terrific performances from top cast, delivering superb action and drama.
Casino definetley. Another I liked (which I know a lot of people didn’t) was Shutter Island. Someone described it as “Un-watchable” which I think is very harsh.
