Underrated or Overrated?
I’ve always felt she was a very solid actress when her focus was on acting, I think her music career is more important to her, so she sticks to small, quirky roles and then hits the road again with her band.
I’m waiting for the film when she plays Jennifer Lawrence’s mom.
Yes, she seems more interested in her music career nowadays.. But even in small roles such as Cold Creek Manor, Conviction and Whip It she shines.
I under the impression that she focussed on music because her film career was going nowhere?
I like her, she was great in NBK and Whip It.
Love her in NBK and have a nice-sized crush on her for that role. She’ll always be Mallory to me.
@mario: You know, I don’t think that she got any big-time praise for any role she has ever done, so for now, we’ll call her underrated. But despite all that she’s done, she never really stood out either…
My favorite role from her is definitely from Natural Born Killers. Goddamn, that girl’s crazy!

The fact that her career managed to survive The Other Sister (Ribisi too) makes her okay in my book.
Cape Fear and, even more so, Husbands & Wives are proof of how talented she is. But no she hasn’t had the best career.
