:O!!! I really am going to faint. That’s wonderful. I think we should all do the November 11 triple bill, for a Kobayashi marathon.
That would make us so hardcore. I’m down.
im fuckin’ there.
Epic.
I’m down for the Nov. 11. And also, it won’t be Andrei Rublev. They played that like eight months ago.
Erm, short notice, but what’s going on with The Headless Woman? Are people still free this evening for the 8:10 show? I think I may try for that one…
Okay, so I went to see Breathless last night. That has got to be the most profane film ever! Talk about violence as well. I can’t believe how many times sheebal was said (or screamed or shouted)… It must be some kind of record (or close to)! Honestly, I think subconsciously I’m going to start swearing in Korean as a result of watching it.
Don’t think I can make it tonight, was thinking one of the later dates like the 26th or 27th.
Hey guys. I’m still aiming for Headless Woman on the 25th or 26th. I hope at least one other person will join me. Sorry Myra, I just can’t make it tonight.
The Human Condition in one sitting might be too much for me to handle. I’m still in cinematic diapers. I need a few years of practice before I can get there.
I’m sorry guys… I ended up going to Headless Woman tonight. :(
Including myself, there were like less than 10 people there…
Alright. So I’ll see… however many of you people tonight at 7.30pm for You, The Living. Sounds good.
Me and Adam will be there!
I’m game for Headless Woman on the 25th @ 6:30, Josh are you coming? Cause if not its just me and that weird Marko guy (who gave Husbands a 3…)
Hahaha, have fun at You, the Living tonight! And The Headless Woman whenever you guys are watching that.
I guess I probably won’t see you fun people until November 11th then? Or have we planned something before that that I’ve forgotten about?
The Human Condition marathon will make for one memorable Remembrance Day. It’ll be an excellent way to commemorate our war veterans!
Kurt, I’ll have to get back to you once I know what my finances are like for the 25th and beyond.
I guess there’s nothing else till Nov. 11th. At least to my knowledge.
Wow. November at the cinematheque will have two opportunities for a tarkovsky/truffaut double bill. Heck yesssssssss.
and Joshua barrel rolls outta the meetup once again. haha, you missed out man! You, The Living on the big screen was cathartic. The entire audience had laughing fits during the dinner table scene. Amazing.
I feel like I’m about to be rather poor in the upcoming months with all the great screenings that are being offered… Kurt, when’s that Cremaster marathon that you’re planning on attending?
I’m also going to detract a bit from cinema. Have any of you guys gone to any interesting concerts recently? I don’t know for how much longer I’ll be in the city (either until May, or until November of next year depending on when I can graduate) and I was thinking that I should really try to attend a concert while I’m here! I don’t even know where the venues are, and I used to be such a music whore back in undergrad in Montreal, going to random local gigs every now and then. Any suggestions on that front? I’m one for melodic indie rock or acoustic/folk music. Between music and film, I prefer music actually… (But I don’t think I should be confessing such things on this site!)
Kurt, I won’t lie to you. I miscalculated my amount of drinking so that I was far too inebriated to enjoy it by the time I was supposed to leave. I’m probably gonna go see it tonight, so hopefully the crowd is similarly awesome.
And Myra, I’d suggest catching shows at Pat’s Pub because they are ridiculously intimate little affairs. Also, Black Heart Procession is playing at the Rickshaw sometime in November. Have no clue if they’re up your alley, but they should be.
Kurt, can you do the 8:10 showing of Headless Woman tomorrow (Sunday) night? I know you mentioned 6:30, but it might be cutting it a little close for me. Anyone else coming?
Oh, and I forgot to mention something very important:
“Husbands” sucks!
(Oh yeah, I’m on fire like Karl Malone in NBA Jam. Take me back to 1998.)
I can’t do the 8 oclock screening i’m afraid, Marko would you mind if we postponed the headless woman screening until it comes to the cinematheque? that way we may be able to get more people (since its just us two, and my mom doesnt want me hanging out with people who give Husbands a 3).
Sounds good Kurt. And just so that we can continue to hang out, I’ll drop my Husbands rating down to a 2.
Holy shit, you just referenced NBA Jam. That’s awesome.
you’ll have forrest gump rated higher.
maaaaan, that shit hurts.
so, SUSPIRIA, ANYONE?
Me and Adam are eying thursday.
Haha, this thread is getting damn entertaining.
Okay.
I’ve made some decisions. I like to have a cinematic plan well ahead of time, so here’s what I’m planning to attend at the Cinematheque. I hope others will join me.
Nov 20 or 22
Double Bill: “Magnificent Obsession” + “Mississippi Mermaid”
Dec 18, 19 or 21
Double Bill: “The Headless Woman” + “Liverpool”
Originally, I had planned to see “The Mirror” but I’ve seen it already. As well, I’m open to seeing parts of “Cremaster Cycle”, but I won’t be able to do the triple bill (too much film for me). If others plan to go, I’ll likely join in.
I’m just mentioning all of this ahead of time so that hopefully some of you can mark some of these dates in your calendars (though you may have already). It would be nice to have some company.
Marko, I’ll join you for the Magnificent Obsession + Mississippi Mermaid double bill and Liverpool
I’ll be rocking the Cremaster triple bill with Kurt.
I wont be able to do dec 19th double bill because thats my birthday! I can’t believe you don’t wanna see Zerkalo on the bigscreen Marko!
I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE IT
omgz kurt are you gonna throw an auteurs party?!
Kurt Walker
Ohh it so is that Truffaut Film, the cinematheque implied a nouvelle vague filmmakers work in a comment.
