Alright Vancouver, an excellent indie comedy is coming to town again and I’m hoping to convert many of you to seeing it. It was at VIFF as an audience fave from another festival (can’t remember which at the moment) and it is easily one of the freshest comedies in years.
Here is a clip from the very beginning of the film to give you a sample. It’ll be at VanCity on Wednesday and Thursday at 6:30pm and 8:15pm, Friday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 4:45pm and 8:15pm.

I’m booking all of you guys for December 17th, at 7:15. No one better bail! You haven’t forgotten, right? A City of Sadness is playing that day! :D
ill be theree.
but Bigger than Life is gonna be better. ;o
I’m rather excited. Getting acquainted with HHH has been rewarding thus far.
I’m going to EUFF tonight. Whee.
I City of Sadness looks good but I’m not sure if I will be able to see it. I have school and I’m going back to my hometown for Christmas either on the 18th or 19th.
I’m hoping to make it to “A City of Sadness” as well… but there’s also that “Liverpool”/“Headless Woman” double bill a few days later. I may be forced to choose between the two, and currently I’m leaning toward the double bill (sorry Myra).
i’m selling my bass guitar in order to buy tickets for Bigger than Life. yeaaaaaaaay
Just so you know, I’m also in for A City of Sadness and Liverpool/Headless Woman. I really hope the next program is a little more inspired.
I just want to let you all know that I read this thread once in awhile and feel intensely jealous.
Marko, nooo! It’s the 20th anniversary of the film though… :( And the new print from LA that is making its way around certain cities in Canada and the US. You mustn’t let this opportunity pass you by! (I have so much love for Hou, as everyone can now tell…)
And Adam, I’m loving my Auteurs pin. I show it proudly!
the next time theres a big bunch of us we should do a family photo ala the photo shoot in Week-End:
just to make Law all the more jealous.
We should have an Auteurs Christmas party!
Remember to have L’Internationale blaring in the background.
Glad you like your pin, Myra. I have one for everybody. Edward King was nice enough to provide us with them so that we can be easily identified as Auteurs members.
And we actually should do a group photo where we all wearing our pins.
Pins? We get pins? Man, that’s super awesome.
And stickers.
i already lost my stickers. wtf.
Stickers? My god.
Who’s up for the double bill (“the headless woman” & “liverpool”) at the cinematheque on Friday night? Anyone? If Saturday or Monday works better for others, I’m also open to those options.
Friday. Friday. Friday!
Okay. Friday.
HHH next Thursday!!! My heart races just thinking about it.
I really want to see Liverpool (on Friday I guess), but I’ll have so many finals to mark before I head back home for the holidays. Urgggh…
I want Bigger Than Life
Movies that are definitely playing for the ‘Best of’ program:
Children of Men
Pan’s Labyrinth
A History of Violence
Cache
Far from Heaven
I’m Not There
I Don’t Want to Sleep Alone
In the Mood for Love
Police, Adjective
4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days
Wendy and Lucy
Russian Ark
Songs from the Second Floor
And My Winnipeg is on the cover of the program, so I’d assume it’s getting played too. I’m gonna be at most of these, so join me, if you care to, throughout the month of January.
In the Mood for Love
Are you serious Josh!?!?! I’m so there – physically to say the least, but mentally and spiritually!!! I’m hyperventilating as I type… I think this news is going to make me cry with joy.
One of the first things I remember talking to you about, when I met you at our first Auteurs meeting is how much I love that WKW film!!! So I think it’s rather appropriate that you’re the one who is the bearer of such great news. :) Thank you!
Im skipping…
4 Months, 3 Weeks
I’m Not There
Russian Ark
Pans Labyrinth
Children of Men
for qualities sake.
I hope they announce a few more ballsy choices!
Myra, I’m super excited not only to see it on the big screen, but to watch it with such an aficionado. I love the movie, so it’ll be good fun. And yeah, WKW occupied quite a bit of our first conversation if I remember correctly, in particular Chungking and In the Mood, so this is an apt choice.
Kurt, I can’t say that I expected more ‘ballsy’ choices, I basically see this program as me playing catch up to a bunch of films I either a) missed in theaters or b) would like to see again. I mean, fuck, I didn’t get to see History of Violence in theaters so it’ll be exciting to see it.
I think, like myself, Kurt is disappointed that the lineup isn’t as strong as the Cinematheque Ontario’s , but it is possible there will be more announced.

That’s great to hear Joshua. Time to convince my parents that they want my brother and I to tag along on their romantic anniversary adventure.
My ideal trip would be something like 1 week in LA (I’ll visit Drew) / New York and then to Vancouver for indefinite period. I have always been more of a Canada person anyway.
