I take that announcement of his about as seriously as this.
Will he quit acting too?
He’ll continue acting . . . but only privately.
What a relief…☺
“I’m never going to show any of my films to the public! Now, bankroll my next film.”
You can’t be a successful artist and fear criticism.
I doubt he’ll expect to get funding for a feature from hence. Maybe he’ll go into creating privately commissioned smaller pictures? Weird choice/statement.
THANK GOD
Buffalo ’66 is a dope movie in my book.
Brown Bunny I thought was pretty good.
I’d like to see more of his movies, but if he doesn’t wanna show em, whatever.

That’s too bad, I was looking forward to it.
‘’As a big fan of Vincent Gallo, I found this to be devastating news.’’
Why?
’’I’ll never make another movie again. I mean it’’ Gallo told Reuters, after [Brown Bunny] had a disastrous reception at the Cannes film festival and he was booed at a press conference.
Yeah, this totally sounded like his best movie.
shame, i like the guy, but hopefully he will continue to act in interesting films like Essential Killing rather than C grade garbage.
I just finished seeing ‘Get Well Soon’ and thought it was a beautiful little love story.
If Gallo doesn’t want me to see Promises Written in Water, then I won’t. If he changes his mind and releases it, then I might.
Simple ‘nuff. What, does he think this affects me in any way? I’ve my own life to live.
I guess that’s really all I have to say about him until I see another movie of his. I can’t discuss not seeing something for very long until it gets boring.

Gallo is a pretentious douche, oy
I like Gallo enough to see his next film if he releases is it, but someone who actually contacts and even hints threats at reviewers who give him bad reviews probably shouldn’t be in film—or should avoid reading the reviews or making public appearances.
This behavior also smacks of bipolarity.
@Jirin
My thoughts exactly. Gallo seems to swing back and forth between bouts of production and self-destruction, or trying to undo any good faith he’s gotten from the public. It’s not just self-publicity.
You guys just figured out that!?!?! Gallo is a complete nutjob. that’s part of his appeal! ;-)
@Joks
I think it just hits you every time he seems to get back on track. The last thing that he did was probably the offer to sell his dna online to women looking for a donor.
Reminds me of Prince’s recent threat of retirement because of people downloading his music for free rather than buying it.
hopefully this ain’t just a promise written in water but in stone
In all seriousness, this is where Gallo’s romantic solipsism has been headed all along—an audience of one.
This just reminds me of Naomi Watts in the movie ‘i heart huckabees’ doing commercials in her bonnet.
“In all seriousness, this is where Gallo’s romantic solipsism has been headed all along—an audience of one.”
Good one!! :-)
Most of Gallo’s ouput as a director/musician has a ‘homespun’ feel about it anyway. including Brown Bunny. I’d say Buffalo 66 is one of his only films that tries to connect with an audience in a semi-kind of obvious way.
Anyone heard his album ‘When’? It sounds like it was recorded in his bedroom, and it probably was.
He’ll be back.
Well, his loss.
