I can’t speak for the Blu-ray but I’ve read enough information on the standard def release to tell you that there currently is no other longer version available of this film. The dvd is the 147 minute version. There has been much discussion about a longer PAL version of the film. The difference is made up in the different film rate when transferred to PAL. I can’t tell you if that is a load of BS or not but that’s the reason that keeps going around online and I can’t argue with it. Fantastic looking film though, in standard or Hi-def.
I have not heard of a longer version but if so, I definitely want to check it out. I’m so thankful that Criterion put this out on blu-ray, it’s simply beautiful.

First off, the print used for the Bluray is phenomenal. My question is whether there is a longer print in existence right now. This is the 1991 restoration and the disc has a feature on what was censored for the first American print. As far as I can tell, all of this material is now in the disc cut.
But I do see some references to a longer 156m version on IMDB. Yet I can’t find any DVD, even in France, that has this version in release. Is there truly a longer print, or does the restoration use everything available? At this point, it’s more curiosity than anything else for me – I can’t believe there’s anything crucial not included in the restoration. I tried looking up some of the articles mentioned in the Censored piece, from Cineaste, for example, but it’s not available on the web. Haven’t hit the library yet…
Thanks to anyone who knows about this one.
