At last!
I’ve been hearing about this for at least a year or so . . . glad there’s been an official announcement finally.
I will buy it.
And when I watch it, I will shut it off right before the last scene, and imagine a sad ending.
It’s Welles’ masterpiece, really. Many people think it’s Citizen Kane, but Magnificent Ambersons, if it hadn’t been ruined by the studio, would’ve been his crowning achievement. As it is, it’s still brilliant. It’s the old story, genius not being recognized by the industry.
Yes, even with the cuts it’s still a great film.
…Except for the last two minutes. When every character in the cast starts acting completely inconsistently with the rest of the film for no real reason, just so the audience can leave with a smile.
