Maurice — are you seriously interested in whether Fellini was “cruel” to Giulietta? You really think that “il maestro” and the woman to whom he was married his entire adult life may have been “celebrity whores”? You’d like to know what kind of relationship they shared?
Do some research. Dozens of books have been written about Federico and Giulietta. Sate your curiosities from sources who knew the couple personally.
Have you also wondered whether Scorsese himself is violent or if Hitchcock was a murderer?
Fellini was married to Giulietta before they became huge celebrities. From what I have heard— once they became so widely popular, then Giulietta kept an eye on him (understandably). A special moment was shared between them when Fellini won the lifetime achievement award at the Academy Awards, and Giulietta shed tears of joy… So, I don’t know the ins and outs about their relationship, but from what it sounds like it doesn’t seem like it was cruel or driven by fame and status (maybe you’ve heard something I haven’t?). And yes, Claudia Cardinale was wonderful and beautiful as always.
I have a recollection, which may have inaccuracies, of Fellini winning a special Oscar when he was quite old, only a year or two before he died, and both he and Masina went up on stage together, and they were the cutest little elderly couple, hanging on each other’s arms and just blissfully happy looking.
Is Mastroianni a media whore in 8 and 1/2? I seem to recall him fleeing from reporters and fans…

There’s the video…it is one of my favorite moments at Oscars.
by “celebrity whore” I mean a very famous person who is known for being very promiscuous.
Andy, yes that’s it. Thank you. Very touching to see.

after watching 8 1/2 last night I wondered what kind of relationship Fellini had with Julietta Massina? Were they both just a couple of celebrity whores or did they prefer their privacy? 8 1/2 paints a terrible picture of infedelity. Was Fellini as cruel when he was young? ? ?
How long were Federico and Julietta married? Wasn’t Claudia Cardinalle just wonderful? This is my favorite Fellini film.
