Synecdoche, New York
In Bruges
My Winnipeg
Let the Right One In
Hunger
- In Bruges
- Gran Torino
- Gomorra
Let the Right One In is in desperate need of a new DVD release, already. Goddamn botched subtitles!
I can’t wait to see In Bruges and Synecdoche, New York.
Although My Winnipeg is from 2007, I think it would be a great addition to the collection. Besides, it would be a great way to honor the amazing work of Maddin.

Wow. Lots of ‘In Bruges’ fans here! I should have known the love for one of my favorite 2008 films would be shared by so many Criterion fans!
Oh, and to bring up ‘Let the Right One In’ again, maybe Criterion can get the English subtitles right if they do decide to release it:

EDIT: Sorry, Marissa. I skipped over your post before replying.
Marissa C – I TOTALLY AGREE. New subtitles are awful.
4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 days
The Wrestler
Hunger by Steve McQueen
DEFIANCE
A great movie with an even greater underlying true story that could be explored in a Criterion disc.
Waltz with Bashir
gomorra, waltz with brashir, the class
Silent Light
Hunger
Whichever film is still the most relevant and important in 15 years time.
Frost/Nixon, Let The Right One In, In Bruges, Tell No One, and Transiberian.
Hunger absolutely
Afterschool
Let the Right One In
Slumdog Millionaire
Man on Wire
Good that someone said My Wiinnipeg. I was waiting for that one (you can only get it at Blockbuster, I think). Yes, Synecdoche deserves the Criterion treatment; frankly, I think it’s the best film I’ve ever seen (even though I think Bergman is the greatset director who ever lived…oh well). Also, yes, In Bruges, which was a phenominal film with not enough on the DVD.
And the Let The Right One In controversy with the subtitles, as well as the lack of special features, makes me want to urge Criterion for an edition.
Savvy
A Ramin Bahrani Eclipse release with Man Push Cart, Chop Shop, and Goodbye Solo.
Synecdoche, New York is the NOT most deserving for a Criterion of 2008.
It’s the most deserving of the 21st Century.
Speaking of the 21st Century and the Criterion, how come they haven’t given Mulholland Drive the treatment?
Anyhow, definitely Che, Let the Right One In, Hunger, and United Red Army should get releases, too.
