I am about halfway through it at the moment but am not able to decide how I feel about it yet. How do people compare it to in the mood for love

Not a fan- Meanders a lot and doesn’t seem to say much.

Go enjoy your film though.

I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It might be because I hadn’t seen In The Mood For Love beforehand, but I don’t think so. The movie definitely had some good moments though, and it’s beautiful if nothing else.

Really? You put it on pause to start a thread about it? Really?

you are about halfway through a movie and ready to start a thread about it? Don’t bother with this thread and forget the movie! Go to do something else…

I don’t like Wong Kar-Wai, but I have friends who adore him, including 2046. They have excellent taste and I’m not sure why I don’t like him. I find him to be really shallow, sentimental, romantic. makes me want to be sick (even if he does it well).

Too much style, too little substance, it left me a bit cold.

2046 is one of the best films of the last decade. The funny thing about this film is that to really appreciate it you have to be familiar with WKW’s body of work, but by then you’ll be too spoiled to really appreciate it. But just compare it to other films of the last decade and you’ll realize that it stands high above the rest. 2046 is an undiscovered calssic.

Hmm, yeah I dunno. I didn’t like In The Mood For Love, which I saw first. I liked 2046 even less.

In The Mood For Love is a cinematic masterpiece and I could go days on end arguing without any hesitation on why I feel that way. As far as 2046 goes its a love hate relationship, and I lean towards the love.

Berjuan is right, 2046 is one of the last films in Wong’s body of work that I would recomend to someone…watching a director’s filmography in chronological order always makes the viewing experience more enjoyable, especially such directors as Wong, Godard and Cassavetes (so I’m told).

nice youtube clip BJ ;)
