Yellow Submarine in a theater or rewatching To Rome With Love
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Rear Window (can’t believe I’ve never seen this)
Red Desert

It’s only Thursday, so I have no fuckin’ clue
Deathdream
The Rum Diary
White Ribbon(rewatch)
Lol. There’s nothing coming out this weekend!
Plus, I need to mentally prepare for Batman. I need to cleanse my body of all other films so that I’m completely fresh and unencumbered.
Assuming my packages arrive on time, this weekend looks like:
The Age of the Medici
Blaise Pascal
Donovan’s Reef (rewatch)
Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse [it’s been ages since I’ve seen a Lang, either new or as a rewatch] as well as Mouchette with Rayns’ commentary.
^^to prepare yourself for Batman you need a bottle of whiskc
ey and something to clear your ears out beforehand so you will be able to understand Bale’s mumbling.
@Joks
The Perfect Weapon. For a Few Dollars More. Maybe Spiderman.
Is Bale gonna do that horse voice thing again??
Gonna finally see Treasure of Sierra Madre. Maybe Chunking Express as well. And maybe any other “have been putting this off for no reason for far too long” film I can find.
Margaret
The Great Dictator
Take This Waltz
Forbidden Photos of a Lady Above Suspicion. I’m anticipating it will be very 70s Euro.
I’m Glad My Mother is Alive
Love Crime
39 Steps
The Assasination of John Lennon is leaving my Netflix queue this weekend. I’m also showing my girlfriend The Grey. Hopefully, I’ll squeeze some theatrical show in sometime too.
Apocalypto
The.Tree.of.Life
ABOUT_SCHMIDT
L’ARGENT (Robert Bresson, 1983)
Here’s what I checked out… I’ll probably watch 4-5 of these over the weekend:
Imitation of Life (1959)
Renegade (2004)
Kwaidan (1964)
City of Ghosts (2003)
Strait-Jacket (1964)
Pandora’s Box (1929)
Kuroneko (1968)
Colossus: The Forbin Project (1970)
The Shock (1923)
The President’s Analyst (1967)
Payday is downloading but it may take all weekend to finish. It’s a Jerry Johnson fave, hopefully he’ll comment soon…
I’m gonna try and also get to Cul-de-sac and The Ghost Writer. And seeing this is as good a thread as any, does anyone have a good suggestion for further Polanski after that? I’ve seen Knife in the Water, Repulsion, Rosemary’s Baby, Chinatown and The Tenant, and liked all of them a lot, but that’s it. Are there many more I’m missing, or have I seen most of the essentials?
High Tide (1987) re watched last night
Moonrise Kingdom – maybe today
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House (1948) – on TCM tomorrow
The Cary Grant film will probably remain my favorite of the three. But I had forgotten how amazing Judy Davis was in High Tide. I could watch her in anything!
Polanski’s Oliver Twist is good, one of my favorite adaptations.
He also did some good acting work in Pure Formality and The Revenge
About to see Beasts Of The Southern Wild.
Dİe Unerzogenen.
and probably,anything german.
Judicial Joe
Definitely:
Battleship
Wittgenstein (to belatedly celebrate Cat’s birthday)
Zazie dans le Metro
If I have a chance:
