ONIBABA!!
Definitely HOUSE is in discussion with my buddies.
Try and get a little of this going, too:
God I wish I had House for Hallowe’en.
Started my scary movie watching last weekend with Witchfinder General, The Wicker Man, Hour of the Wolf, and The Human Centipede. Hopefully this weekend I’ll get to watch The Innocents like I’ve been planning. There’s a special showing of 28 Days Later in the theatre here so I might go see it. I also always try to find time to watch The Shining every Halloween.
The World Series.
ok, NOW i’m going to go watch The Vikings…
Watching the debut episode of The Walking Dead on AMC and then popping in my brand new DVD of Hausu to watch the batshit craziness for the very first time!!!!!
Walking Dead is a pretty good pilot, I’m excited to see what directions the series is going to take.
hopefully I’ll finally see Rosemary’s Baby, and rewatch Rocky Horror and The Shining
I have plans to throw a movie party with some of my more hardened horror movie friends. I basically grabbed the most horrific films from my collection, as well as some stuff that could be fun. I’m planning on showing films all day for any of my friends that show up. I’m also planning on having people vote on some movies over others to get some more discussion going.
10:00am: The Monster Squad
11:25am: Nosferatu
12:35pm: The Thing
2:25pm: The Toxic Avenger
4:05pm: Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon
5:35om: Trick r’ Treat
EXPLOITATION TIME—VOTING ON VIEWER’S CHOICE!!!
6:55pm: GUTS ROUND—Dead Alive vs. Bad Taste
8:35pm: TROMA ROUND: Poultygeist vs. Toxic Avenger 4
10:05pm: CHEAP ROUND: Slime City vs. Basket Case
11:45pm: PENETRATION ROUND: Cannibal Holocaust vs. Pink Flamingos
2:35am: NIGHTMARE ROUND: August Underground vs. Guinea Pig 2
3:00am: SURPRISE SELECTION: (Hausu)
On Halloween day, I have no idea what I’ll see. On Oct. 29th, however, I’ll be attending a screening of House at the University of Chicago. Happily, I will see it on the big screen my first time ’round.
Nathan you lucky bastard.
Nosferatu is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen! I’ve watched it twice and I am honestly so creeped out by that film, I haven’t watched it in 3 or 4 years. A highly affective horror film. Thats my two cents
Come to think of it, I should watch The Exorcist on that evilest of days.
I’m hoping to try and get a screening going of Halloween on my campus, but I think it might be too late to arrange.
My friend wants me to go to a Halloween party but I think just I’m going lock my door and unplug the phone and watch Nosferatu, Ju-on, The Shinning and then The Wicker Man
Hammer Horror Dracula films
Yeah, we’ve got a screening of House going on around here (in Raleigh), and afterwards they’re showing Death Bed: The Bed that Eats. It’s going to be a pretty surreal night.
Midnight screening of the silent version of The Fall of the House of Usher accompanied by a live rock band.
I hadn’t even thought about this until I saw this thread, but now I’m thinking as many of the following as I can fit in:
- Don’t Look Now (rewatch)
- Jaws (first time!)
- The Last Winter (first time)
- Walking Dead premiere (can’t wait)
Anybody been reading Rupert Pupkin’s guest lists of underrated horror films? He’s done TONS of them, and they’re all really interesting catalogs of weird-looking films. I wish I knew horror well enough to write one of these, but I absolutely don’t. It’s been all month at his blog: http://rupertpupkinspeaks.blogspot.com/
I didn’t like HOUSE. Too silly.
If I want to watch horror, I just turn on the news.
If you can hold out till next Tuesday, Nov. 2, the election results should be pretty horrifying.
Last night I also saw Nosferatu on 35mm here in Calgary, Canada, and they had a live band playing, which was really incredible. Tomorrow I’m also seeing Troll 2 and Best Worst Movie as a double feature, followed by a midnight screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Turner: I hope your friends appreciate your exemplary programming! Make them bring the Labatt’s Blue.
Yeah, Z., I think most of my buddies are bringing lots of beer and drugs to get through the night.
Wish I was in Calgary for that bill, Turner. Don’t let anybody doze! Entertainment of the decade you’ve lined up.
I’m partial to a few millennium episodes. Great great holloween watching there.
I tend to just go to Halloween parties and watch people in ugly costumes get drunk and make out. It’s really more fun than you’d think.
I cannot do that this year, however, because getting drunk is not what this culture does (officially. Non-officially, several days of work have been cancelled because major people, erm, “didn’t want to get out of bed.”)
I usually watch horror movie series, in order, back-to-back, for Half Halloween (the last week of April). It’s a point when you can rent all of the movies, because they’re always rented out for Halloween. I get my friends to bring candy and popcorn and I provide the movies. One year it was Halloween, the next Nightmare on Elm Street, last year was going to be Hellraiser but now I live over here…

Yeah I have a complete set of Elm Street films too. Might do a few of them with some drinks.
I was pleasantly surprised how good the entire series is as a whole. No, the middle ones aren’t masterpieces, but they have a lot more fun and creativity behind them than the typical horror slasher serials. Then you get to New Nightmare, and day-umn, Wes Craven returns in good form.

I’m watching IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE on Halloween.
And ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN on Christmas.
Los jóvenes muertos / Dead Youth and Meek’s Cutoff.
Erik Villasenor
I’m gonna be cracking open my brand spanking new preordered house dvd, placing it in the player, and enjoying the craziness I’ve been waiting for months to witness! And if I have time Videodrome.
Happy Halloween
