I guess nostalgia works kinda like a wave, it may hit you without warning at first then you just get used to the water. ;)
Elephant looks interesting, despite what most people say. It’s really a shame, I think the setting is one that’s been relatively unconsidered for anything beyond comedies.
Yeah, I guess so. I was cleaning out my room recently and you come across all this stuff from when you were young and initially lots of things bring back good memories but at the end of the day once the glee has worn down you realise that only a few of those things are actually worth holding on to. Nostalgias like that – an initial bit of happiness and then that annoying realism starts dawning.
Elephant doesn’t interest me particularly but I’ll give it a watch at some point. Y’never know, I may like it.
’night Josh. I should have gone to bed an hour ago >_>
‘Nostalgias like that – an initial bit of happiness and then that annoying realism starts dawning.’
Yep, we spend our entire lives trying to return to the past but each step only takes us farther away. Or some aphoristic BS like that. lol
Anyway, good night. See ya later. :)
Time Bandits and Spider Baby! The latter is very creepy and funny. Time Bandits I’ve watched once a month for 20 years now.
Saving Silverman and Orange County. Jack Black is a riot in those flicks!
Zardoz speaks to you: His chosen ones.
“Rogue”……….I don’t know what I like it so much….weird……… aahhhh and " Dead End "
HITCH..
will smith is perfect for the role that he plays
DUMB AND DUMBER..
jeff daniels and jim carrey are hilarious..it’s a great movie when you need some easy laughs
Curious Case Of Benjamin Button is my guilty pleasure. I feel so bad when I watch it, because it’s so bad, but I just really like it…
“Death Race 2000” and “Hollywood Boulevard” (the latter has to be the uncut version, with the Commander Cody ‘Gypsy Fiddle’ number.)
“Nightmare Castle.”
I am sure there are others I am blocking right now.
I am pretty bad…I’ll often put new, bad hollywood flicks in my Netflix queue – regardless of rating, critical praise or box office success – simply because they’re avail in bluray.
This is mostly because I enjoy looking at their sumptuous cinematography, prod. designs, etc., and all told, they’re really aren’t that many films on bluray, especially classics.
SONG OF NORWAY!!!!
I honestly can’t think of any films I find guilty pleasures, in the sense that I know it’s bad, but for some reason enjoy it (not including its camp value).
If I’m allowed to venture into television though, Smallville fits that description. I’m an enormous Superman fan, and I know it sucks, but I tune in every week.
Halloween 3. The last scene still gives me chills.
Oh, and Notting Hill. That one’s just fun to quote.
Liar Liar, but then again it’s truly hilarious.
i know its pathetic but i love retarded comedies (i also love intellectual ones but retarded ones are my favorites)
literally the funniest movie ive ever seen in Step Brothers
Princess Bride
A league of their own
anchorman
Wall-E
hook
The wedding singer
Pride and Prejudice
Kill Bill (1&2)
somekind of wonderful
tropic thunder
foot fist way
Les visiteurs
Reailty Bites
Back to the future
The goonies
Wall-E is much more than a guilty pleasure, it’s a masterpiece
I have a guilty pleasure for Point Break, a film I enjoy with every viewing. Also Con Air, which may be the most ridiculous movie with the worst accent I’ve ever seen, but it’s hilariously bad. I love it.
And if the Apatow & Co films really count as a guilty pleasure, then I fall under that group as well. I love all of those.
Old horror/sci fi movies from the 30s-70s
House Of Frankenstein etc….
Virginia City… it’s a horrid Western with Errol Flynn but seeing Bogart play a Mexican Bandit is priceless.
Gummo
Cruel Intentions- sure it’s a sleezy almost heartless film but I think it’s super fun…
Napoleon Dynamite-I guess some people really hate this… I’m not one of them… I love it and I honestly have no way to justify why
I just love watching mean girls
Most of the Star Trek movies.
What an interesting topic to come by while I’m watching Teen Wolf.
sigh how could gummo be a guilty pleasure
Part of me says its nothing but exploitation the other part tells me its a beautiful moving film…. I’m still trying to decide
what julien donkey boy then you can see there is really more to harmony
Duel In the Sun, Rat Race, Mars Attacks! and disaster films.
There are lots of… But I’ll just say “All Steven Seagal Movies”.
why would i have any? i feel sorry for anyone who feels guilty about liking a movie
well, i guess, maybe some porn. but no one is responding with porn titles, so…
“well, i guess, maybe some porn. but no one is responding with porn titles, so…”
well, I think I’ve reached the point where I now feel guilty watching young starlet porn. Even though I had no problem watching 18—20-year-olds getting fucked when I was their age through my 20’s, I’m now starting to feel weird about it (I’m 29). As for all the milf porn these days, even though the “milf” actresses are actually around my age, it still feels weird.
so yeah, my guilty pleasure is watching a 20-year-old take one in the eye.
I win the thread for being honest.
Rich Uncle Skeleton
As much as nostalgia is nice it never seems to affect how much I enjoy a film. I watched A Bug’s Life a few months back and got really giddy for about a minute or so because of nostalgia but the actual film was quite good and nothing more.
Strangely enough my first ever viewing of Aladdin was a couple months back so I had no nostalgia for that.
Oh, and I know of no other great highschool films and really wish I did. And I definitely don’t know of any other great highschool films that have a similar tone to Brick!
