“If there is anything the good doctor wants…anything at all.” He’s great!
Very good i first saw him in “the saint”. I love his delivery and he carries a great voice. He was one of the best things in Mission impossible 2. More like one of two things that is good about that clunker.
Yeah he’s great in “Eyes Wide Shut” and a little known New Zealand film called “Broken English”.
How about “Before the Rain” with Katrin Cartlidge? He really needs better roles like that.
he is great in Before the rain.i love Mision:Imposible for two things:Him and Anthony Hopkins.
He gave a great and subtle performance in Maria Schrader’s 2007 film “Love Life”. Superb actor.
I love all his films but it is better english and american faze then serbian and croatian
I love the most:# The Fog (2005) (as Rade Sherbedgia) …. Captain Blake
He was pretty terrific, alongside fellow under-ratee Stephen Dillane, in the recent Fugitive Pieces. He exudes genuine warmth and paternal love in the film, notes that he, and most Eastern-European actors in Hollywood really, rarely gets to sound.
He could totally play Santa. If Wilford Brimley were too busy.
One of the great actors in cinema. He should totally get bigger and more demanding roles. And he should do more comedy!! One of the most inventively hilarious actors.
i just watched one of his earlier films again. a yugoslav black wave gem called “crveno klasje/red wheat” from 1970. directed by the brilliant zivojin pavlovic. another film and director thats slipped through the cracks of history. he’s great in it.
Yes, that’s also the best film I’ve seen him in (excepting Eyes Wide Shut ;-) ). How did you manage to see it!?
I watched a nearly deteriorated copy in Slovenia some years ago, and Serbedjia was attending the screening. He seemed quite shy and reserved as a private person, but he’s an incredibly versatile actor. I agree, Pavlovic needs rediscovery!
i have the film on dvd. not an official release. just recorded off of tv.
pavlovic needs discovery in a bad way. forget about rediscovery. no one knows anything about him. in my opinion, along with makavejev, hes the most important filmmaker to come out of the former yugoslavia.
glad to see some love for a (definitely) high-class actor who may have been more famous thanks to his Hollywood antics (bad guys mostly,Saint suits the thread and i believe he was also in Quiet American,it looks like Noyce likes him)
yet as you mention some directors he’s collaborated with, may i also add top notch performances with Goran Markovic (Variola Vera),Dusan Makavejev (Manifesto) and the somehow recent Milcho Manchevski film (Before the Rain)….
he can be a jew, a latino, an easten euro …the man has it all…
