That heartwrenching final scene from Carne’s Jenny, who walks alone as she learns that she’s been betrayed and tramped on by everybody: her daughter, her lover, her lover’s friend.

After covering hearings on the Hill today:

After coming home:

“Drop the gun you fool!” -Plan 9 From Outer Space.

Apropos of using tarot cards in film, from my favorite so far of Agnes Varda’s work (I think that’s Strength on the far left, The Magician, The Tower, and above is The Hanged Man – these are all Major Arcana cards, and are the ones that are the most powerful in a reading):

A scene from later in the film, very lovely, a place to think…

I’ve gotta get out more.

I’ve gotta get out more.
I’ve gotta sleep more.

By the way, for that scene in Apocalypse Now Coppola got Martin Sheen really drunk and kept him up for so long that Sheen was on the verge of emotional collapse. That’s not entirely acting. And when he smashes the mirror doing martial arts moves, he really did cut himself and the blood you see is real. That whole film was truly cinema verite.
Or a very good example of actor abuse.
More than one director has been guilty of that. Hitchcock famously referred to actors as cattle. Incidentally, the above information came from a book that Coppola’s wife wrote about the making of Apocalypse Now. it’s really fascinating. Sheen also had a heart attack during the shoot.
Suspiria iris secret

@Volupte – I heard about that too. If I were his (Sheen’s) wife I would have been furious at Coppola.
Coppola is currently shooting a new film based on a nightmare he had just about ten miles from where I work and starring, among others, the ethereal Elle Fanning. Let’s hope he’s nice to her.
Yeah, not like this (from Maitresse):

Hah — whoops, dp for a few more slaps.
Jeez, I hope not. Elle is thirteen. Polanski maybe.
LOL! Yes, we are past the age of corporal punishment for children, aren’t we? At least in Cali.
Love that crazy actor! (Rutger Hauer in Bladerunner, when he’s done for, right)?
