Ghost Recon Alpha- a short 20-minute film released to promote a new version of a popular videogame, a prequel to a full length feature already in production. It looks good. My gal friend dismissed it as another mindless action flick, maybe, until she saw the scene with her fave actress… Charlotte Rampling. The bitch bit her tongue and went silent.

For the first time since 1981 I have seen Raiders of the Lost Ark in theaters—this time a new 35MM 4K restoration of the original negative, this time at the historic Texas Theater, and this time with my daughters, who both loved it! What an incredible experience.

Raiders is playing at my local theater in August

Project X does look pretty terrible.

Also got Margueritte from Netflix so I hope to watch tomorrow.

It was a great month, saw a lot of 4 and 5 star films.
Gus Van Sant’s first film was amazing

Best Films: The Thin Red Line (AMAZING!), Vanishing Point, Prometheus and Rampart.

Worst: Project X, The Sitter, A Thousand Words, Wanderlust (Gave it 2 not 4, can’t edit now)

I am one of the few that actually liked A Thousand Words, thought it had a few good comic moments (the dinner scene for one) and a lot of good dramatic moments.

The film is really a drama about starting over, and I thought it worked well. Ruby Dee was particularly effective
