12 films and half of them rewatches and two of those rewatches were of bad movies. Couldn’t finish Lincoln— after the umpteenth witty aphorism we had heard and seen too much; it all seemed so contrived. Killing Them Softly, Life of Pi, and Django were all entertaining and simplistic enough for a quiet evening. Holy Motors and High Tide were the only half-way memorable films of the month that were not rewatches, but I didn’t care much for the former, and I couldn’t tell if the latter reminded me more of a Mike Leigh movie or a Lifetime Channel movie (apparently, at one time, it was playing on the Lifetime Channel…). Kurosawa on the big-screen was great though.
