What is (are) your favorite frame(s)?

The middle one looks like Jeremy Sisto in Jesus. Ok, I better stop posting now.

well, 2 or 3 things is one of Ceremony’s favourites i see, but no clues from from the other faves. Except the top one looks like it might belong in a Philippe Garrel film, but i haven’t seen that much by him

Ceremony

Yes, the first still is indeed from a Garrel film, namely J’entends plus la guitare. The actress is Mireille Perrier, who was also in Elle a passé tant d’heures sous les sunlights.

Kenji is also correct about the second (2 ou 3 things) and fourth one (Mirror). The middle one is Pierre Clémenti in Pasolini’s Porcile.

Kenji

Ah, Porcile is the one Pasolini feature i’ve not seen so that accounts for it. But i’m very chuffed with myself for guessing Garrel. A beautiful still indeed. There are lots of films here on auteurs not watchable in the UK but a couple i’ve not seen by Garrel are, and i look forward to them (along with Kawase’s Mourning Forest)

Always good to see l’Atalante, Kim- i found it hard to find the images i most wanted. But what entices me now is Departures! I’ll add to my must-see list. Thanks, Samantha

Here’s a bunch I had uploaded already, most of them are rather contemporary.
(This first one has probably already been posted, but…)

I love this entire shot:

Not a fan of the film but I like the effect:

John Toll man shot The Thin Red Line, and this:

Mean Streets. Greatest shot in the film.

Jimenez

Fuck it.

Mean Streets
The tracking shot of De Niro walking into the bar, with Jumpin Jack Flash playing.
Best shot in the film.

I wish there were more images from La règle du jeu that capture the atmosphere of the film.. but here’s one.

Yes i quite agree with you, and that’s a good one i don’t remember seeing when i was looking
