Grindhouse and exploitation movies are always a wonderful source for great titles. The following one from a Ray Dennis Steckler movie is not easy to beat: “The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies”
And one Fassbinder film has a very long and fascinating original german title: “Fontane – Effi Briest oder: Viele, die eine Ahnung haben von ihren Möglichkeiten und Bedürfnissen und dennoch das herrschende System in ihrem Kopf akzeptieren durch ihre Taten und es somit festigen und durchaus bestätigen”, which means something like: “Fontane – Effi Briest or: Many who have an inkling of their possibilities and needs and yet accept the ruling system in their minds through their deeds and thus strengthen and confirm it”. Seems like a possible contender for longest title ever…

That is the longest title ever. Neh included it in his Auteurs Poll List because he is such a jokester, but its impossible to find so I can’t finish his list. Very annoying. I wonder if I have his permission to just check it off.

that’s extremely long, but has still about 30 letters (or one word, if you count that way) less than the complete title of the Fassbinder.
I found another very long title that even beats the Fassbinder by four words (but doesn’t if you’re counting by letters, which I consider to be a more appropriate way of comparison): “Night of the Day of the Dawn of the Son of the Bride of the Return of the Revenge of the Terror of the Attack of the Evil, Mutant, Hellbound, Flesh-Eating Subhumanoid Zombified Living Dead, Part 3”. And another movie of the same director has a complete title that’s even a bit longer, being mostly the same but ending with “…Zombified Living Dead, Part 2: In Shocking 2-D” – quite impressive, but regarding the number of letters it’s still not reaching the Fassbinder.
