@Liam – Wow! I’ve never seen that movie but it looks great. I’m captivated by it. Subtitles give me a headache but I might try to watch this one.

“WR: Mysteries of the Organism is on TV a lot??” no brady i don’t think it would be!( the reason i chose profondo rosso instead of an ozu film is because that is a film shown frequently on tv. i think pedja is exaggerating.)

Actually, first and only screening of the WR was back in 1971 in my hometown Novi Sad, because the producer was from Novi Sad (Neoplanta film, and Neoplanta is latin name for Novi Sad) and Makavejev said that chauffeurs and bodyguards were enjoy the “show” but communist bosses were not. And the movie was banned. Two decades later movie were played at the local TV stations a couple of times, and few years ago again… Some kind of repentance, social repentance, who knows, but I find the movie very funny, provocative, something which rises inspiration and finally there are those Okujava’s verses you know: “We are only playboys in the house of the dead…” Hey, kids, I’m not so young to watch whatever I want and whenever I want, in old good times you could watch “repertoires” and VHS tapes!

Goodfellas

I love the film so much that I can see my copy of the DVD sitting on the shelf nearby and I will still continue to watch.

I have a family member who does the same with The Bridge on the River Kwai.
