Scenes From A Marriage
The Squid and the Whale and The Squid and the Whale part 2, also known as Margot at the Wedding
But Larrytalbot pretty much nailed it, Scenes From a Marriage is an epic about divorce.
But I guess it would depend on all the details, are there kids involved, prenup, etc.
In The Bedroom. Fatal Attraction. Baise Moi. Natural Born Killers. The Bridesmaid. Audition.

I’d probably watch a bunch of stuff in technicolor because technicolor makes me indescribably happy.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Annie Hall or Manhatten.
lol Audition
I tend to watch Taxi Driver. Gives me thick skin.
Alien
For the tears, a contemporary “loss & memory” cycle: The Accidental Tourist; Three Colours-Blue; In the Mood for Love; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Birth.
For the laughs, a 30’s “chase/get him/her in black-and-white” cycle: Trouble in Paradise; Design for Living; Shall We Dance; The Awful Truth; Bringing Up Baby.

Films that have absolutely nothing to do with breaking up.
LOL @ Scenes from a Marriage.
Would that help or just make you relive every stupid mistake you made and lame argument you had?
LOL @ Audition
Getting dumped definitely beats getting torn to pieces with a piano wire.
Agree with Jap on Three Colors-Blue. In fact, I would probably watch everything of Kieslowski’s. I think Ebert said that Kieslowski is the filmmaker he would turn to if he found out he was dying, and also the filmmaker he would turn to if he found out he would live after all. When it comes to major life changes, I think Kieslowski. Although Chaplin would help. Maybe Eyes Wide Shut, if I was going to try and fix things with my wife.
Especially that last line of EWS ;)
Agreed Casey. A truly great last line.
The Fire Within because it’s so depressing that it cheers you up lol

Whenever I’m feeling emotionally devastated, I throw on my friend Buster Keaton and let his depression cheer me up.

“Wings of Desire” and “Tokyo Story” are the two movies I’d turn to if I found out I was dying, or felt like it.

MODERN ROMANCE by Albert Brooks.
Required viewing.
If I were dying I’d stop watching movies and start documenting my death.

You should see Robinson Crusoe on Mars.
I have seen Robinson Crusoe on Mars. I own it, in fact!

break ups or divorces can leave you miserable or angry. sometimes not only funny movies can help you those bad time, but heart warming films. I like the royal tenenbaums in this situation or my own private Idaho.
