what scene gets to you?

Okay, I admit it. I cried on this film. It’s just so heartbreakingly entertaining xD You know you’re watching her life up to the point of her death, yet you are presented with such a colorful view of her life that you can’t help but watch. The final scene, with everyone singing Magete Nobashite, and Kumi’s final okaeri to her sister always gets to me. I can’t help it.

There’s so many scenes that got to me. I didn’t cry, but I did feel really really sad for Matsuko throughout most of the film. One scene is when she starts to avoid her friend Megumi and celebrates her birthday by herself. Another is when Ryu beats her a couple of times and she says, “Its okay if you beat me, its better than being alone”. Also, when her brother tells Matsuko that her father and sis die. That was really sad. Oh and can’t forget about when she gets out of jail and after expecting her man Kenji to be waiting for her, she finds that he’s moved on and married with a kid.

oh man! Yeah! When she’s singing all about love returning home to find her guy married with a family, and her own quiet “tadaima”. It connects with that whole final “okaeri” – Kumi was always there for her!! xD And Eita saying “Matsuko obasan” xD

I cry on about every other movie I watch, but 99% of the time it’s because of a great line or fantastic cinematography, rarely because something sad happens.

Tons of scenes have got to me in the making me cry sense. I’m really emotional like that. Spirited Away, The Fountain, My Neighbour Totoro, West Side Story, Pather Panchali, Eureka, Synecdoche NY, Aladdin, The Wrestler, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, United 93, Millenium Actress and Grave of the Fireflies are some of my favourite films that I’ve cried at.

One particularly noteworthy scene is when the tree grows in My Neighbour Totoro at nightime – that made me feel like a child again and was just so beautiful to watch :’D
