“Frontier Psychiatrist” by The Avalanches.
I would want My Heart Will Go On by Celene Dion or Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths.
Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths and The Beatles’ While my Guitar Gently Weeps are good choice..
but I want everybody gets so sad, so I’ll pick Ave Maria.
hehe.
Good call on The Smiths. Ave Maria would be perfect! I would go with a Broken Social Scene cover of New Orders Age of Consent..

True Love will find you in the end-Daniel Johnson
Who really, and I mean REALLY decides upon the song that will play at their own funeral? I see this question asked a lot, it’s sad. People are more concerned with what song they’re going to play when they’re dead than what song they’re going to play tomorrow! I’m just going to enjoy my stay in the Mark Vanselow Infinity Star Hotel as much as possible!

However, to any emo-types who ARE obsessing over this, a word of advice: beware of playing “live” music recordings at your wake. This happened at a funeral I attended, and the song finished, and you could hear the CANNED APPLAUSE afterward! Yet since I have an odd sense of humour, I saw the lighter side of it.
Nice call on the Daniel Johnston song, Muleyhaven.
I suppose “On and On and On” by Wilco would be on my short list.
“Little Person” from Synecdoche, New York
Talking Heads – Naive Melody followed by
Stereolab – Lo Boob Oscillator
Some GG Allin or this on repeat:
I don’t want any of my stupid relatives that outlive me to have a good time.
“Maggot Brain” by Funkadelic. Look it up!
“Yakety Sax”
“In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”
“Watermelon in Eastern Hay” by Frank Zappa.
Definitely this, among other things…….
Ives: Piano Sonata No. 2 – Third Movement: ‘The Alcotts’
Nirvana: All Apologies
Ravel: Piano Trio – Third Movement: Passacaglia [if not the whole thing]
Schubert: One of his chamber pieces.
Uhhhh… THIS!!!
Savvy
I changed my mind… I want everyone to dance to the brazilian electro pop beat of CSS!!!
“The eternal” by Joy Division seems quite fitting.
Procession moves on, the shouting is over,
Praise to the glory of loved ones now gone.
Talking aloud as they sit round their tables,
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain.
Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden,
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky,
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment,
Possessed by a fury that burns from inside.
Cry like a child, though these years make me older,
With children my time is so wastefully spent,
A burden to keep, though their inner communion,
Accept like a curse an unlucky deal.
Played by the gate at the foot of the garden,
My view stretches out from the fence to the wall,
No words could explain, no actions determine,
Just watching the trees and the leaves as they fall.
LOL @ Dave A. “Yakety Sax” jesus, that’s hilarious. No matter how sad the funeral was, I wouldn’t be able to stop laughing
