…like last week I mean, not a lot but seriously how can this site have trouble raising donations with tens of thousands of members. People want every fucking thing for nothing

problems again…

Can someone let me know when they’re accepting registrations again? I’d really appreciate it :)

That probably won’t happen for a while.

Damn, I’ve had this site in my bookmarks for over a year at least. Today I’m doing some bookmark cleaning and I try to find out what Surreal Moviez is but I can’t. Should have registered when I had the chance.

Anyone else having problems opening this site today or is it just me?

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

looking back in this thread it seems the sunday shutdowns aren’t unusual tho i don’t remember noticing it before

I wish I knew how to burn a DVD that I can play on my regular player from a downloaded film file. I’m sick of watching films on my computer.

There are programs that convert video files (.avi, .mkv) to the DVD format that can be played in a regular DVD player. I use avstodvd: you can insert subtitles (.srt files), it has PAL /NTSC options, and is very easy to use. And it’s free!
In the encoding process some information will be lost, though, but that compression is visible only if you try to burn a high quality blu ray rip, or something like that.

I dont know how to post links, but if you search in google “avstodvd” it’ll appear ;)

(and sorry if my english is bad)

Nero (www.nero.com) let you do practically everything you need to do about burning discs.

anyway i still can’t connect to SMz and i’m worried. i can’t be the only one?

You are not alone.

Thanks Javier_ and Weaving. I’ll give it a try but given my technological illiteracy, I hope it’s simple (and Javier_, your English is absolutely perfect).

Any suggestions of some other film sources to rely on during this kind of situations?

ruby stevens

i might suggest filestube

if u know what you’re looking for chances are pretty good

anyone know what’s going on? this is very annoying. those little flags that don’t exist anywhere but at the bottom of the film pages are teasingly haunting me.

anyone know any of the admins to ask?

Surreal is still down and I can’t find Tomu Uchida’s “A Bloody Spear at Mount Fuji” anywhere…

Thanks for the suggestion though.

For those here in the US, you may as well get used to this ’cause if the Stop Online Piracy Act passes sites like Surreal are going to have a hard time operating, or even being able to be found through most IPs since they could be liable for any claims of content theft by the movie industry.

A google search for SOPA should provide plenty of more information for anyone who isn’t already aware, as well as providing some sites for signing petitions for anyone who wants to try and stop the bill from passing.

right, it’s a scary situation and our golden age is likely coming to an end. a terrible shame for cinephiles as so many films will never make it to dvd but the industry would apparently rather we have no access to them at all

johnsonisjohnson

Founders of Google, Ebay, Craiglist, Twitter, Paypal and others oppose the bill and hopefully they’ll help in putting an end to a totalitarian internet becoming a reality. Hopefully.

As for SMz, they really should consider making an IRC with Mibbitt for situations like this one.

:( if smz drops dead, i will wear a black veil for a year. they say forty days without sex makes miracles. anyone in for a mass abstinence vow to revive smz? the local lore has it that the period around solstice is especially fruitful for such endeavors, heh.
