For sheer technique, Melville’s Le Samourai is perfectly executed. Almost perfect as a film, but perfect as an exhibition of visual style.
L’Eclisse and Blow-Up, if it weren’t for the foot of the crew member on the left side of the frame during the orgy scene. Then again, perhaps Antonioni thought it was a mistake worth keeping. Someone could have been standing there watching them mess around on the floor within the confines of the film.

I believe that Magnolia is a “perfect” film as well as The Engilsh Patient….absolutely perfect masterpieces…brilliant. Vertigo is right up there too.. just perfect.
