“I Know Where I’m Going”, “A Canterbury Tale”, and “One of Our Aircraft are Missing” are all great films. Though, I’d suggest “I Know Where I’m Going”.
@Brady, I totally forgot to list “I know Where I’m Going!” Roger Livesey’s performance is great. I’ll take you up on “Aircraft” and will try to watch Canterbury soon.
I don’t think any of the Powell films, with or without Pressburger, come anywhere near THE RED SHOES.
Nick Kostopoulos
Had the great fortune to finally see a restored print of “The Red Shoes” at LACMA after 15 months of waiting (And about 10 to 11 viewings on DVD!!)
Since about April I’ve being delving further into Powell and Pressburger’s filmography. Thus far I’ve seen:
“49th Parallel”
“The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp”
“I Know Where I’m Going!”
“A Matter of Life and Death”
“Black Narcissus”
“The Red Shoes”
“The Small Back Room” (actually, I’ve got about thirty minutes left, but almost complete.)
“The Tales of Hoffmann”
I own “A Canterbury Tale”, but have not had the chance to watch it yet.
The question, where to now?
