Scorsese, Tarantino, & George Lucas.
Brett Ratner
Kubrick fanboys piss me off because it makes us Kubrick fans look bad.
Wes Anderson, Michael Haneke and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
Haneke has fanboys? Fassbinder has fanboys?
a kubrick fan boy is someone who defends EWS and AI
haha
the worst fanboys would have to be kevin smith’s. He did okay with clerks but it was all downhill from there and I hear people defend jersey girl and mallrats, makes me sad
“the worst fanboys would have to be kevin smith’s.”
Does Kevin Smith have anything but fanboys?
why all of my faves, S.Ramstedt?
Does that mean I am the worst fanboy?
why all of my faves, S.Ramstedt?
Does that mean I am the worst fanboy?
(in no particular order)
Scorsese: people go googoo saying how hes the best at this and that, but he hasnt made a great film since Goodfellas. dont get me wrong, i love Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas, but after that…. no.
Tim Burton: honestly, hasnt done anything that great, and is getting more detestable with every crappy hollywood “movie” he cranks out. he hasnt made anything halfway decent since Pee- Wee’s Big Adventure. his fanboys are some of the most obnoxious
Steven Spielberg: he sucks, and EVERYONE loves him
Tarantino: honestly ive liked all of his movies (except Death Proof. went too far with dialogue. and personally i think hes a great director. i just wish he would do something completely his own, rather than turning everything into an homage. that being said, his fanboys are waaay too into him and just think he’s God. although i must say, he has an almost equal amount of haters as well
Tarantino
Godard
Wes Anderson
Epic gravedig, Fletch. I agree wholeheartedly with your choice of Tim Burton. Also on my list: PTA and Aronofsky.
QT, Burton, Martin S and Peter Jackson, not so much fanboys as apologists
Kubrick has the worst fanboys, ever.
yeah his are pretty bad since it has been decades since he had a great film, tho he cant help that he died a long time ago.
KEVIN SMITH & WES ANDERSON
and also fans of BOONDOCK SAINTS
Tarantino
Tim Burton
David Lynch
Max Pécas
All fanboys are terrible by their very definition. Reminds me of the reasons that made the concept cinéphile gradually become a pejorative by the critics of post-68 Cahiers
I am a complete Herzog and Lynch fanboy, they can do no wrong in my eyes.
most of you bash Tarantino but never mention his qualities like writing ability and directing.
if he is so talentless why don’t you write and direct me another Pulp Fiction or Basterds.
I would love to have some more Tarantinos.
Fuck those Bergman snobs are pretty awful, those upper middle class over-nurtured prick who they think they know it all because they think they can handle Bergman, and Kubrick fanboys are just dumb, they watched 2001: A Space Odyssey didn’t understand it, but loved it because it tripped them out while they were stoned, then they watched a Clockwork Orange and started walking around with a hat and cane for a week, becoming increasingly sadistic towards they’re closest friends because they’re only souls that are willing to put up with their idiocy, and of course they loved the Shining because, well because it’s the fucking Shining… forget Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wide Shut, Spartacus, Lolita or the Killing, those movies don’t exist to a Kubrick fanboy.
The best fanboys are definitely Ford fanboys, Scorsese fanboys, and Altman fanboys, those niggas be classy as ballz.
starting to think Soderbergh
I think the first posts of this topic are awful, it’s pathetic who base they’re judgment in a movie thinking of who are the ones who glorify them, “plenty of punk teenagers love Scarface/Tarantino? ok i will dislike them from now on so that doesn’t make me look myself like an idiot…”
how immature and ridiculous is that, fortunately there is no kind of people like that around here anymore.
The most annoying fanboys are the ones who think they’re favorite director is the GOD of cinema and everything starts and finishes with him, and i can give a name, Godard, nothing against him and nothing against the ones who love him, but this is how it goes, he has some silly fans out there.
honestly I think Kubrick. Tarantino fanboys are common but innocuous. Kubrick is like the director that a film person first latches onto as having serious intellectual clout, and then if you say anything negative about his films they condescend to you. a common reaction to criticizing Tarantino would be like “you’re crazy, man!” a common reaction to criticizing Kubrick would be like a dismissive smirk and a pat on the head lol
that said I love both those directors. but I think they’ve both made less-than-great movies and I don’t love them blindly or arbitrarily
Malick Fanboys! For Gods Sake the guy can’t even shot a dramatic scene properly!!!
haneke
Christopher Nolan:
Mexican Film Schools are full of Nolan fanboys that think Inception is the best film ever made and that have never watched a single Mexican Buñuel film or any Mexican films at all ):
Joss Wheedon
Kevin Smith
Tarantino
Pixar Studios
Guillermo del Toro
Guy Maddin
Nolan
Hayao Miyazaki
J.R. Hudson
“Krzyzstof Kieslowski fanboys are SO annoying!”
I KNOW, right? They’re all like, “Nobody examines the metaphysics of life the way Kieslowski did with The Decalogue and Three Colors” and I’m like “BUT THERE’S NO EXPLOSIONS!” Shit, he even crashed a boat and didn’t have the decency to light something on fire. But that won’t stop those beret-wearing “cineastes” from latching onto that bandwagon.
LOL !
