JEALOUS!
Montclair: Just watched Ponyo. also showing 500 days of summer, in the loop, Paper Heart, Adam, and Lorna’s Silence.
and friday they’re taking away Paper Heart and adding Cold Souls
Paper Heart and Cold Souls are both cute and worth seeing but ultimately they’re throwaways.
In Kansas City, we had Tetro last week and are getting Humpday this week. Departures and Unmistaken Child have had longer runs. Next week I’ll be able to see In The Loop, which I’m pretty excited about.

The Marc Pease Experience
I forgot to add the city I’m in above (Paris), but currently at independent theaters, revivals include: The Dirty Dozen, Cries & Whispers, and Crisis. There’s also the Film Noir festival going on, which is a strange mix of classic and somewhat contemporary films.
Just saw Food, Inc. in San Francisco – great documentary that everyone should see!
nothing. absolutely nothing.
Every Little Step and Food, Inc. are playing here in Lincoln. A Woman in Berlin is coming soon.
An hour drive to Omaha and I’ve got Humpday and a Westerns series (I think Unforgiven is up this weekend)
Really not too bad for the vast, ugly Nebraska plains.
Everybody needs to see The Cove, it’s an extremely important film. If it’s playing in your area, see it.
Sadly we don’t have a local indie, but fair play to multi-plex they are screening THE THING in September. The place is a shithole and full of idiots but in all my days I never thought I’d get the chance to see this masterpiece on the big on the big screen so bless ’em for that.
KAMINEY

Now playing at the Lumiere, San Francisco: Somers Town
See Somers Town!
One of the best films I’ve seen this year.
Viva Zapata
A Streetcar Named Desire
A Face in the Crowd
I Sell the Dead
The Way We Get By
The Glass House
La Dolce Vita (Thank you Coolidge Corner)
Yes, Somers Town was great. We also have It Might Get Loud – has anyone seen this?
Handmade Nation
On the Waterfront
A Streetcar Named Desire
Sita Sings the Blues
Does Taking Woodstock count? Ang Lee is a little like Steven Soderbergh in that he’s both mainstream and independent at the same time, and it isn’t always clear whom his movies are for.
Tulpan
(500) Days of Summer
District 9
The Hurt Locker
Julie and Julia
Ponyo
and I would include Inglourious Basterds, if for no other reason than nobody but Tarantino would get that through the studio system.
Sometimes I feel like counting Robert Rodriguez as an independent, too, so if we count that, then Shorts is playing, too.

You know what? I misread the thread. It says what films are playing at Independent CINEMAS near you, not what independent films are playing at cinemas near you.
Okay then.
Handmade Nation
On the Waterfront
A Streetcar Named Desire
Sita Sings the Blues
Tulpan.

The Secret In Their Eyes
Whatever Works
Mademoiselle Chambon
The Ghost Writer
A Prophet
Edward
I think everyone knows that Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds is coming out this weekend on over 3,000 screens around the country, but which films are we missing that only got released in 1 or 2 cities? I saw The English Surgeon last weekend in SF (great documentary) and missed a two day theatrical release of Jim Jarmusch’s The Limits of Control
Which films are coming out this weekend at your local independent cinema?
