@tommy: this one’s for you…
You said weird, right?
Thank you for the nice comments Blue, for me and for everyone else.
Blue, you have been one of my favorites from the start. I’ve always felt affinity for the custodians. Those who clean up after the rest of us, and a custodian at a cinemathique would be one to admire. I don’t know how you came up with that name but it drew me to you immediately.
You blend a kind of crass boldness with a kind of humble sensitivity for transcendent film. You make me laugh, and think. And from what I’m seeing you are pretty great with a camera yourself and are out there getting read to turn that great appreciation and understanding of good film into the production of new films for us to enjoy.

I don’t think you can be a serious MUBI user without being aware of what I would call the MUBI big 4 :
Kenji – The knowledge one
Apursansar – The academic one
Risselada – The dedicated one
Blue K Custodian of the cinema – The fucked up one
You guys really bring this website to another level along with a lot of another amazing members and people I enjoy following like :
House of Leave
Kelvane
Edwin N
Scorpio Velvet
Coheed 2.0
Jerry Johnson
There is also a lot more but I’m sure you know who you are. And Mr. Scorpio, I’m honored to be part of the few people on your list!
@Eloi MV
How about myself?
@Scorpio Velvet ; You’re there (between Edwin and Coheed;)) because I quickly saw that our taste is viciously similar and that’s why I’m following all your ranking closely!
@Eloi Mov
Oh, okay but thanks again, buddy!
By the way, Scorpio Velvet is my new username, just to keep in mind. ;)
Ben.
“And, of course, my favorite member who disagrees with me on everything, Joks!”
i love you too mate :-)
I like a lot of people on this board, so i’m not going to play favourites.
@ Joks
You are one of the best as well, Joks.
Let’s just say, I’ve never encountered a user I didn’t like on this site.
But for my personal “best,” I’d have to say Tommy; he contributes thoughtfully, always packs knowledge in his posts and opinions, and has a great sense of humor.
You forgot to mention how cute I am. teehee.
Oh, and that too.
PolarisDiB (perhaps the greatest next to Kenji along House of Leaves)
and
Scottie Ferguson (newest film buff, keep watching more great films out there, buddy)
I think the two main factors here are:
- how much respect I have for their views on cinema
- how much I can relate to their views on cinema
Having said that, if you are not on the list, it’s nothing personal… I’m following a lot of you, and I’ve had good reason to follow each and every one of you.
In order of when I started following you:

Kenji

Blue K, Custodian of the Cinema
Risselada
House of Leaves
Dennis Brian
Cinesthesia (aka Duncan)
Jack Lehtonen

Again, if you’re not here, don’t take it personally.
I know Jazzalhoa, Kenji, and House of Leaves well.
I have an intense admiration for users who A) have incredibly interesting taste and fascinating things to say about films; B) are filmmakers themselves and express themselves in very intriguing ways; or C) talk to me and give me attention! :D

D’aww! Thanks for the mention, Douglas. Interacting with the Mubi community has greatly enhanced my film viewing in 2012. I’ve long been a movie buff but Mubi made me realize that something is missing if you’re not riffing and sharing ideas with other like-minded cinephiles. I recommend these fine folks (in chronological order of when I followed them):
Jack Lehtonen
Trevor Tillman
Msmichael
Douglas Reese
Lights in the Dusk
Mr. Arkadin
Ethan
DT
Zachary W
Sunrise
Michael Harbour
Matt Burgess

Scottie Ferguson
Why thank you, Joey. You are awesome as well.
Thanks for the mention, Douglas. I don’t have as much time to spend on the forums as of late, but I always enjoy getting over here when I can find the time. I’m not going to single anyone out by name for fear of snubbing people I like, but there are many users here whom I find insightful and knowledgeable about film.
Probably Martin Scorsese. We PM each other all the time. Also Roger Ebert and Jonathan Rosenbaum.
Really though, one of the best things about mubi is the number of artists/critics/filmmakers who have posted here/have an account and are willing to converse with us commoners on occasion:
Jon Jost
Mark Rappaport
Allison Anders
Kentucker Audley
Ignatiy Vishnevetsky
Randy Walker
Lou Perryman (RIP)
etc.
who else?… probably a whole lot more. (I would be kind of interested in hearing “who else” if anyone else wants to add to that list)
for my taste,
GUMM: He’s just 16. I can’t imagine his future. http://mubi.com/users/1321776
Nilufer Uysal: http://mubi.com/users/3380401
They both enjoy blockbusters and art movies. It’s most important criteria for me.
Another is exploring obscure movies. People generally pick most acclaimed movies and they stay away from great American movies. It’s shameful for a real moviegoer. Underrated becomes overrated. It’s the real black comedy.
