I really hope someone has some info on this
Never seen this myself, though I’ve been interested since it’s on Ray Carney’s recommended films list. You might want to send him an email asking about it: rcarney@bu.edu
It’s the craziest film i’ve ever watched. At one point, I thought it was a documentary, then William Burroughs turned up and from there I was in a state of bewilderment. Another viewing is required because it went completely over my head.
We worked with David last year on a short film which was part of a multi-platform project he’s working on called The Telepathic Motion Picture of The Lost Tribes: http://www.animateprojects.org/films/by_project/solo_commissions/tribes
Interview with him here: http://www.animateprojects.org/david_blair
I think he did The David Blair Witch Project.
so i never got that link til just now cuz I haven’t been on Mubi. But I checked it out just now and the address doesn’t exist anymore. Is this seriously the most mysterious movie ever made?????? I swear…. I think about this movie once every couple years. I still have it on VHS. I’ve been watching the same copy since i was eleven or twelve!! that’s over 17 years! I watched it about a year ago with my crazy roommate at the time, and I mentioned how this guy has never made another movie blah blah blah and we looked for him online for a couple hours. Can’t figure out who this guy is. WEIRD!!!!!
The only extra information I could find is that supposedly, WAX was the first movie to ever be streamed on the internet
Which link doesn’t work for you? The Waxweb link that Matt posted above goes to spare, white page with other links. If you click on the one near the top called “Main Waxweb Page,” it takes you to a black page with Paypal links where you can buy the DVD in NTSC or Pal format.
ok… so I sort of read that interview and I couldn’t really make any sense out of it. And the transcript was horribly written so it didn’t make much sense to begin with. I guess that’s all I’ll ever know about it

I’m 28. When I was 12, I rented a movie called WAX or the discovery of television among the bees. I rented it once every few months because it was soooo bizarre and interesting. Later, the video store went out of business and sold all their vhs and dvds. Remembering WAX, I went there and was shocked to find that it was still there. Recently I looked him up on IMDB and it turns out it’s the only movie he ever made. this was in 1991 and involved a lot of computer graphics which is unusual for the time. He has a website that hasn’t been updated in years. Who is this guy? Why did he make this movie? What is it about? Does anybody know about this?
