My pick is Julie Christie. If you disagree just watch the recently released and long awaited Dvd “Far from the Madding Crowd”.
Brigitte Bardot or Anna Karina. But that’s highly influenced by recent film viewing.
louise brooks.
Monica Vitti
Michelle Wild
Another vote for Julie Christie, closely followed by Louise Brooks, Delphine Seyrig, Emmanuelle Riva, Dominique Sanda, and Anouk Aimee.
Catherine Deneuve—words fail. Helen of Troy must have looked something like CD.
Can’t quite decide between two already mentioned – Seyrig & Deneuve.
It’s funny that we have 2 threads for this going simultaneously – I’ll post here as all the women mentioned here are really hot (Sanda, Seyrig, Deneuve, etc.), and Julie Christie has fans here. On another post called Sex & Love in Celluloid, Who First, and Who Lately, Turned You On we have discussed this before. There I mentioned also Juliette Binoche as another strong contender. It is nice to daydream, isn’t it – sigh?
For Julie Christie see also Darling; for Juliette Binoche, my perennial favourite, Unbearable Lightness of Being. Wow!
Hard to pick just one. Like Bob said, it’s nice to daydream…
Sophia Loren, Deneuve, Emmanuelle Beart, Julie Christie, Irene Jacob, Halle Berry
I agree with Johnny, put my vote in for Louise Brooks. So enchanting and mesmerizing to watch.
Anna Karina, Milla Jovovich, hubba hubba.
Catherine Denevue, Lauren Bacall, Charlotte Rampling, Carole Bouquet, Jacqueline Bisset and Nastassja Kinski.
Natalie Portman
Veronika Lake, anyone?
Barbara Stanwyck
Kate Winslet
My votes to Kate Winslet, Anna Karina, Bridgette Bardot, Irene Jacob (esp. in double life) and an Indian actress – Manisha Koirala
Jean Seberg, for me anyway.
milla jovovic! yes. take it from me, serbian women are some of the best in the world.
Milla Jovovich is Ukranian, no? (in fact, when she was born the Ukraine was still part of the Soviet Union.) I know her dad is Serbian, but I’ve never thought of her as being Serbian.
Elizabeth Taylor, Natalie Wood, Kim Novak, Catherine Deneuve.
Deneuve proved in “Dancer in the Dark” that she has the kind of face that defies any attempt to make it plain, hard, or average.
Harriet Anderson in SMILES OF A SUMMER NIGHT.
Audrey Hepburn
Alexis Bledel
Barbara Hershey
Faye Wong
Yunjim Kim
Not a single mention of Marlene Dietrich?
Shame!
I second many of yours responses like Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Denevue, Harriet Anderson and most certainly and in my humble opinion hands down the winner; Anna Karina, although, I just finished watching To Catch a Thief and I gotta give honorable mention to Grace Kelly!
Grace Kelly was great in High Society too, one of my favorite musicals
Irene Jacobs
Catherine Deneuve
Jessica Alba
How come nobody mentions Madeleine Stowe, for Christ’s sake?
Gordon Ackerman
I’ll stump for Audrey Hepburn.
