hmmmm…only a few mentions of Garbo…probably due to the youth of the group here…
I agree with most of the women chosen, but I can’t find some of the most popular attractive, like Johannson or Bardot, which is surpising even to myself.
Has Anna May Wong been posted? She was with Marlene Dietrich in “Shanghai Express” and a number of other films (check out “The Toll of the Sea”)..

Anna Karina too. Not only is she quite exquisite, she has quite an energy about her. I didn’t quite like Vivre Sa Vie and Pierrot Le Fou but she lightened up the screen for me whenever she was on.
Grace Kelly
Sopfia Loren
It’s all about Mia Farrow and Anna Karina.
Bibbi Andersson
Ah, yes! Couldn’t be more in agreement with those who mentioned Charlotte Rampling in The Night Porter.
Zooey Deshanel
Dorothy Dandridge
Ludivine Sagnier
Marlene Dietrich
Tilda Swinton
Tilda isn’t classically beautiful, but for some reason I think she’s gorgeous.
I know that Monica Vitti is not the most beautiful (hard choice), but I’m losing in love with her.
Monica has 77 years, even so, I continued to love her and her movies, her face so special, her lips, everything.
And Meg Ryan, Anna Karina… my list is too much to write.
SOPHIA LOREN
Juliette Binoche is not only physically attractive, but also radiates intelligence and warmth. That’s real beauty.
ava gardner, rita hayworth
Julie Christie has always left me weak in the knees. Extraordinary, heartbreaking beauty and keen intelligence to match.

Instant, off the top of my head shortlist:
Anna Karina
Emmanuelle Beart
Naomi Watts
Monica Vitti
Lucia Bose
Monica Bellucci
Claude Jade
Delphine Seyrig.
Claude Jade

Grace Kelly — she’s hard NOT to look at when she’s on screen.
In no particular order:
Audrey Hepburn
Jenny Agutter
Eva Marie Saint
Grace Kelly
Jessica Alba
Emmy Rossum
Jessica Lang, Rachel Weisz and a young Mary McDonnell
Young Brooke Shields or Grace Kelly.
Wow- Great thread and tribute to so many leading ladies… My ‘almost’ A-to-Z: Audrey (Hepburn) or Anouk (Aimee); Bridgit (Bardot) or Bibi (Anderssen); Claudia (Cardinale) or Carole (Lombard); (D? E?); Faye (Wong); Grace (Kelly); Halle (Berry); Ingrid (Bergman); Jeanne (Moreau) or Julie (Christie); Kate (Winslet); Li (Gong); Monica (Belluci) or Maggie (Cheung); Naomi (Watts); (O?) Paulette (Goddard); (Q) Rita (Hayworth); Salma (Hayek) or Sophia (Loren); (T? U?); Virginia (Cherrill); (W? X) Any Yolandas of worthy mention?; and of course, Ziyi (Zhang)! IMO, I think the film ‘2046’ may include the highest quantity of beautiful female leads! Any other contenders?

I like the mentions of Monica Vitti, Audrey Hepburn, and Brigitte Bardot. I’ll cast my vote for Naomi Watts.
