Did you mean to post this on the Netflix forum?
Hi Rossi!
We here at the Mubi team are working on catering NETFLIX to your needs. We just need to acquire the copyrights and possibly engage in a hostile take over, but once all of that is cleared up we can work on acquiring Colossal Youth for use in home delivery, and possibly even streaming.
Your input is greatly appreciated! — The Mubi Team
It’s all part of my evil plan!

because it’s too good for them.
Because I said so.
[Note: This is actually the best reason for anything. I used to think it was just my parents being assholes, but then I had children of my own, and it turns out ‘Because I said so’ actually IS the greatest answer to any question “why?” So there you have it.]
whatever
House of Leaves: As always, I’m here for child-rearing advice—screw film commentary!—and yours is golden. Seriously, next time I get back to North Texas, our children should romp.
As usual, I

Guys! I just found out the secret ingredient in Aunt Jemima’s Homestyle Waffles!

Because it sucks.

For once, I decided to type EXACTLY the first sentence, word for word, letter for letter, that popped into my head upon reading a question here.
For the same reason so many films are still and will always be missing: Netflix is profit
On a side note would it be better to watch Costa’s films in order of release or does it not matter. I want to get into some of his films in the next few months.
Superkal, I bought a Cinemateque pass for a junket of Pedro Costa films, and I was VERY enthusiastic. The fact I didn’t get more than one week along says it all.
I saw “O Sangre” and “Colossal Youth” and they were complete rubbish, save for the attractive black-and-white lensing of the former.
I can’t begin to count the number of films I’ve seen superior to these colossal bores—pretty much all of them.
Caveat emptor.
Well that really helped with Superkal’s question…
Well, in lieu of a consumer advisory sticker…it did.
Pedro Costa is one of the modern masters imo.
SUPERKAL: my suggestion is to watch the trilogy in order, then work backwards. but tha’ts just me. i have only seen his features though.
Thanks guys. I should have specified the trilogy was what I was asking about.
House of Leaves: They did, actually!
“I can’t begin to count the number of films I’ve seen superior to these colossal bores—pretty much all of them.”
I can’t wait to hear Vanselow’s praise for an Eastwood film over Costa…any moment now, hehe.
I rented it from Netflix about a month ago – so it certainly was available… as to why it no longer is? Usually that happens right before the rights change hands or their is a new release around the corner.
It must have some impact on the release of the trilogy. I rented it from Netflix in May. For once, I wouldn’t blame Netflix for this, it must have to do with Criterion or who owns the rights.
^^so maybe this boxset is going out of print then? i certainly hope i get my copy from B+N if that’s the case! :-)
“Ossos” and “In Vanda’s Room” are still available on Netflix. Hmmmm.
^^maybe their copies of C.Y are damaged?
^Yes, in all seriousness, that’s the most likely explaination—they had limited copies of the film and they all eventually became damaged or where lost. If you save the title into your queue, Rossi, it may help speed Netflix getting replacement copies.
Rossi
if the DVD is in print, because the other two Costa films in the CC are available.
