India go on to meet Africa in the semi final (China v Japan in the other)

I suspect that the match against Africa is going to be even tougher. I´m really looking forward now to play against Blue K.

The organizers, Kenji and Apursansar in the sem-finals, hmmm…

I’m beginning to smell a big fat commie rat!

Seriously, full congratulations to both Apursansar and Blue K for advancing against two very strong teams. Thanks to all teams for a fine series of films in this 1/4 finals. We have four very shrewd, very knowlegeable cinephile captains advancing, so it shoud all prove v-e-r-y interesting!

it didn’t occur to me the 4 of us would be the semi-finalists (till i heard the fix was in)

what, me the fat one? I thought i must be the prettiest one second from right (no offence to Myra)- with a naughty raised eyebrow, well a cross between that and the dashing roguish Spanish beard centre

Rüdiger Tomczak

Blame the make up specialist.

apursansar

Maybe Blue K is going to trade (which would require some method acting a la De Niro from him).

i get it, the intellectual heavyweight of the bunch, well, if the cap fits, i’m not one for false modesty

All for one and one for – now wait a minute… Hell, with that all for one business! It’s every man – and woman – for themselves. Survival of the fittest films.

Interesting that Europe and all the Americas are out. Who but the lucky team captains of the 4 teams – and Dimitris – could predict that China, Japan, Africa, and India would make the finals? Well, there was a lot of love for these 4 teams throughout the event, as all kept coming up with great films to see. Perhaps Japan or China might be expected to have done so well, but Africa and India have probably surprised a few hardened cinephiles, who think the sun rises and sets on Russian, Swedish, French, Italian, UK, USA, or German films. Well, not anymore folks!

Here’s my take on the four captains advancing – The Fantastic Four indeed!

Let´s forget about that monkey, Joe.

to be qualified for the semi final is already a big triumph and I guess the four team manager deserve a special site where their fans can be a fan of by click.

Joe, is that Dimitris on the board behind them ready to take them to task for any shortcomings in their selections?

“Perhaps Japan or China might be expected to have done so well”

China was never to be expected as a semi-finalist,in fact…China was the least of the favorites to pass (in the beginning) and i’m so glad Myra didn’t succumb to a Wong Kar Wai favoritism after the group stage but instead promoting variant directors of Chinese cinema (i want 60’s too, hehe)

greg x

Hehe. Right on time…

Joe Arthaus

Greg – Yes, that is Dimitris ready to wipe out any team that puts a well-known film into competition. You got that, Kenji? Btw – the title of the above should be Fantastic Four and the Rise of the Silver Screen Iconoclasts.

Kenji

ah that fab four is easier to place, yes Myra’s the babe and i’m Ioan Gruffudd from Wales on the right but which is the monster?

Joe, i’m gonna do it my way, as planned, and changed not a jot for Dimitris.

Dimitris Psachos

who am i kidding…everyone hates Wong Kar Wai and Bernardo Bertolucci on this site :P

Rüdiger Tomczak

Hard to say Kenji. I am not sure, I just have pics of Blue K and Myra. Yours and Apursansars look is just a question of our imagination.

Joe Arthaus

Kenji – You tell ’em, kid…

My dog Bryn loves singing along to Frank, especially You Make Me Feel So Young, that and the Welsh song Myfanwy

if Kenji puts at least a Miyazaki film (final or not),i’ll atone for my complaints, hehe.

(please no Spirited Away)

Kenji

I’m not so keen on Spirited Away anyway- but i have already at least picked one by him

Dimitris Psachos

i cross my fingers for either Castle in the Sky or Mononoke!!!

(the other 3 managers better have something great if they face these two films,in case Kenji decides so,hehe)

Rüdiger Tomczak

Be careful Kenji. Don´t inform too much. Blue K and Myra are already thinking secretly about their next steps.

Must you dis Spirited Away just because it won an Oscar?! Its a good film ;)

But Castle in the Sky is on eof my favs as well so I too am crossing my fingers!

greg x

Miyazaki?! Not nearly obscure enough for my taste. I won’t be happy unless Kenji picks some pinku eiga films like A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn or Sexual Desires in the Ladies’ Restroom: Dripping!. Only then will I consider giving him my votes. Well, Ishiro Honda would work as well.
