Great to see the high amount of voters, let´s hope that participation is even going to increase as soon as we´re heading towards the three final matches.
I agree, Marc.
And I guess now we shouldn’t be surprised if Kenji all of a sudden has more Mizo hidden up his kimono sleeves. :)
Mizo’s feeling a bit tired, maybe some fresh legs.. you’ll have to wait and see.
Just a question: How come Blow-Up is listed as an Italian film? It’s in the English language, shot in London, with British performers in all the major (and minor) roles. Yes, Antonioni is Italian but if the contest was between Late Spring and, say, L’avventura, the results might have been closer.
Frank – the contest initial rules stipulated that the birth country of the director was key – not the location or language of the film. This was all hammered out in considerable discussion several months ago, so maybe a bit confusing for those just entering the event. Also, L’avventura had already been used in an earlier round by team Italy.
Kenji
JAPAN 2 ITALY 1
Human Condition 9 Bicycle Thieves 10
Late Spring 17 Blow Up 10
Ugetsu Monogatari 26 The Conformist 4
Japan 52 votes Italy 24 votes
that breaks the voter turn-out record i think- pending confirmation- and Ugetsu equals the biggest winning margin by a film, along with Rules of the Game
